New 30/375 wildcat

What kind of velocity did you see with them?

I shot mine today with H-1000. It shot 3085fps with 208 Amax's. The load was a bit warm though. The Amax's had to be seated quite a bit lower than the 210gr Matrix. It shot them about 1/2" compared to the .2's and .3's the Matrix bullets usually shoot with R-22. I'll probably try the same load with the 210gr Matrix bullets as they out shot the Berger 210's as well.

My chrono is down so don't have any velocities. They were 218's.......Rich

MMMMMM, I'm feeling faint!!!:D Man I want one. I like what you have going here. Can't wait to get around to building another rifle.

Thanks Tank. I would have liked it a little better with fluting and the melonite on the barrel will definitely improve the appearance. I didn't go with fluting because I didn't want to take ANY chance of losing accuracy and weight is not a concern since it probably weighs 12 lbs. anyway........Rich

Man Rich, that rifle screams long range smack down!!! Perfect lines for a long range hunting rifle.
I used a Sightron Slll 6-24 MOA scope the other day for some long range shooting and I was really happy with it, made driving the rifle super easy and I have yet to use a scope that was so forgiving with the eye relief.
I think a little data on the performance with the 215 and 230 Berger for bait and I can set the hook :D

Thanks Rhian! I am REALLY impressed with it so far. I have to find some more Bergers (for you guys):D, I'll probably be using my 218 or maybe 230 SXR's which I haven't even tried yet. I ordered a new chrono today, (like I have a lot of $$$ left) after this build. I am anxious to get some real data and get it in for melonite. I'm still betting on topping out at 3100' with the 218's.
I really like the Sightron too. I'm using bullet holes for aiming points.....Rich

I'm going to give it a go again tomorrow. I MAY have ordered a new chrono for nothing? I called PACT and it could just be a problem of muzzle blast from my brake. I've never had one before so was unaware that this could be the problem, but it kind of makes sense with the timing. We'll see.......Rich

Never for nothing Rich. Set them up on a common rail and get confirmation of the velocity with the 2nd unit run in tandem - concurrently.

As far as muzzle blast goes, it is true you want to keep the processor unit away from the muzzle blast as much as possible. After positioning my units well behind the muzzle, I sometimes wrap a wool blanket around them, or shield them with cardboard or plywood, to help reduce the slap/shock from the muzzle blast sound wave.

You're right Paul! This will give me an opportunity to get some better b.c. data as well:D.....Rich

I did a little shooting yesterday but the chrono still wouldn't work so I'll have to wait for the replacement later this week. I did try some W780 with my 218's with a 210M primer which shot a .3". RL22 didn't seem to like the std. primers and didn't try any Mags yet. I haven't used much RL22 so any info would be appreciated. Have you guys found that it needs Mag primers? I've actually been surprised how well H1000 and W780 works with the 210's.
I also took some time to carefully measure case capacity on a seven case sample and found it averages 96.4 grs. H2o. I was pleased with this as I didn't seem to lose much capacity over the std. 30/375 and have a much longer neck.......Rich

A group with the 218 grain bullet, Rich's SXR, loaded with W780.

It looks like the bullets they use for the 50 BMG only in .30 cal. Very cool looking and looks to shoot well. Nice bullet making! Rich can you post any pics taken of game killed by those bullets? Or are they strictly target bullets? I would love to see it in action.
