New 30/375 wildcat

It sounds really close to my .30-8mm but much shorter. I shoot 76grs of R-22 with a 210gr Matrix @ 3100fps. I'm going to try some 208 Amax's with H-1000. From dealing with 8mm Mag based cases for years you can just about bank on 1gr more 7828 and 4grs more H-1000 then R-22. So I'll load 80grs of H-1000 with the 208's. The Ruger cases are probably tougher than Rem. 8mm Mag cases though.

Are you making your SXR bullets by tipping another bullet or from scratch? Any idea on BC?

Ya, I'm guessing the capacity is within a grain or so.
I make them from scratch. My 190's are tested at .311 G7 at 2500' elev. (around .620 G1. The 218's that I plan to shoot need a little more testing but they should be slightly over 700 G1. I also make a 208 or just about anything up to 275 grains......Rich
p.s. you might want to try some Retumbo with the heavier bullets as well

Are you going to be able to magazine feed the tipped bullets with your case? Mine is close to a single shot now. I can put one in the feed ramp and one in the chamber. My COL is 3.79". I have another Bartlein barrel I've considered making into a 30-375 Ruger or a 30cal on a improved 8x68S case to shorten the OAL. This one shoots so good, as has all of the 30-8mm's I've ever built, that I put up with it.

Are yours boattails or flat base? How do they expand on game?

They are rebated boat tails and they provide excellent expansion down to at least 1300 fps. This is the reason I started making them years ago. I had bad luck with everything I tried at 1000 yards on elk. Yes, they killed the elk, but I was not at all impressed with the time involved. Mine, on the other hand, are not intended for close up. They work great if you stay away from shoulder shots up close but do a lot of damage on the entry side. I do make a bonded, double jacket version, that works well at any range......Rich

I have a 4" Wyatt box so I can feed anything. It is actually a little overkill but that doesn't hurt me. The 215 Bergers seated to the lands have a coal of 3.705". I haven't measured my SXR's yet but I think they will be under 3.8". I am having my B-78 that was chambered in 300 Sherman rechambered to my 30/375 S.I. It has a 28" 5R Barlein and will become my "long range carry rifle":D......Rich

hey rich.... You know the unwritten rule in this place..... Where's the gun porn!!!!!! Sorry, couldn't resist.

Ya, the stock is very much like an A3 with the fore end rounded a little on the edges. I think it will look pretty good when the barrel gets Melonited. I shot a couple of groups today before the noise from my wife screaming drowned out the muzzle blast!! She was trying to work in her flower garden.........
I shot some of my 218 SXR's for the first time so need to work up a good load but I did shoot a .3" so I think I will be able to dial them in pretty well with some more testing, I'm ordering a new chrono tomorrow so won't have any data for a while..Rich

I measured a SXR today and the coal to the lands was 3.752".......Rich

What kind of velocity did you see with them?

I shot mine today with H-1000. It shot 3085fps with 208 Amax's. The load was a bit warm though. The Amax's had to be seated quite a bit lower than the 210gr Matrix. It shot them about 1/2" compared to the .2's and .3's the Matrix bullets usually shoot with R-22. I'll probably try the same load with the 210gr Matrix bullets as they out shot the Berger 210's as well.
