N560 or N565 for 6.5 prc?

16 grain heavier bullet tho. I can run a creed fairly hard and still can't match a prc in any shape or form. I do hear of some guys getting ridiculous speeds out of creeds but not sure what mess they've made out of their brass. I don't run 156's generally in the prc anyway but if energy is the goal it makes sense.
You can get some ridiculous velocities out of the Creed with RL26. It's just a perfect storm. A friend on here told me to try it and said I wouldn't be disappointed. I run the 143 ELDX at 2954 fps into a ragged hole. I got it over 3000 fps and ran out of case capacity before finding pressure. The accuracy was at 2954 fps. It hasn't destroyed the Hornady brass I use either. Never thought I could get those kind of speeds out of a Creed until I tried it.

I have several creeds and rl26. I cannot get those speeds safely, not even close.

Some of those I struggle with how they get that much powder in the case. Re33 for example. I've never used it so don't know what the kernels are like. Just seems like a pile of powder.

Now they run a max of 58 rl26 in a 26" barrel. I run 55.5, just shy of seeing pressure, in a 22" and get 2915. Wicked accurate. Strange how their data is vastly different. Hornady on the other hand is very close.
Hi Brent! I hope you getting ready for a Merry Christmas with family!. Mine is running a little late with the icy road, but everything except back roads are cleared now. I'm expecting some hungry kids soon 😂.

on Berger's chart mine runs pretty close with it . I get 3020-3040 average out of a batch , I load in lots of 100, running 57.0 RL-26. That's with a 26" barrel. The data they put out on 25 Creedmoor looks like they did the test with my rifle. With the 25 CM I see people getting 3100 with h4350 while the best I can do is ~ 2825. Same barrel length. The things I know create differences are humidity differences, cleaning techniques. Low humidity is going to create more velocity per same charge weight at a higher humidity. I dirty barrel is going to create more friction around the bullet which is pressure which is velocity. Just a lot of variables. I think the biggest is they are using pressure transducers & not exceeding recommended pressures. With some of the new brass, custom actions, etc we might not see typical pressure signs until 70K or 75K. I saw somewhere that Alpha warned about this. You take care! I ordered that mag..

I get what you're saying. Believe me, I was real cautious when working up the load. My buddy got those velocities in 3 different rifles and I found, in my research, that many others do too. It really shouldn't work, but it does. No clickers, no heavy bolt lift, no ejector swipe, etc.

I can see why some don't like the bigger case of the prc with speeds like that. My 22" prc runs a 135 at 3150 but it's wicked accurate at 3100. Loaded for a buddies 26" and settled at 3200. Could run it harder too but it was money at 3200 so left it alone.

It's interesting that your speeds and mine, modeling same barrel lengths, are actually fairly close but I'm at 55.5 grains. Should be right at 3015 in a 26".

It actually made me a little mad because my 6.5-284 Norma was only 50 fps faster

It's a tough gig. You have to run numbers and model it. Often a higher velocity light bullet will match if not out perform a heavier slower bullet for wind. Think time of flight. I run a 135 a tip vs the 156 for this reason. Less drift and drop and the energy isn't needed. .6 moa at 1000 is all but about 4 moa less drop. It's just a better combo for my purpose.
Speed KILLS baby!!!! Learned this over 40 years ago with my .220 swift... TOF is a very forgotten metric!!!

Got some N560 coming from Grafs. Now to find N565....
I've found N560 works in the 6.5x55 - 6.5 Prc and the 6.5-284 . The 6.5 Prc with r26and N560 run grain for grain . Short or long barrels. I started my load development with N165 in the Prc and 6.5-284 with really good results the N165 burns cooler than most other powders and is easy on the throat . The N560 gives more speed before pressure.
