my version of a 300 Norma Mag Improved from 2014-15

haven't hunted with it myself but my daughter used it to punch her winter cow draw tag in Dec. 2015, see vid below

what do these numbers mean ?
these numbers tell me that I have 152 days until moose season and I have to use a 30 caliber cartridge to hunt moose with

Don't believe me ? These maths don't lie ..

152 (days) divided by 6 (the months the days are in) = 25.3333333 + 5 (letters in Moose) = 30.3333333 = 30 and then the seven .3's represent the letters in caliber

I have to hunt moose with a 30 caliber rifle this coming season in 152 days ! the numbers don't lie !!!!

Which 30 caliber cartridge ? That is still a mystery though , but I'm working on solving that riddle, stand by .......

We're planning on using 300 Weatherbys with 180 TTSX.
We were supposed to go moose hunting in Ontario in Sept 2020.
We're now supposed to go Sept 2021.
I'm not holding my breath given the US-Canada COVID border situation.

I'd use the .358 Norma Mag, but... in .30 cal I'd use his little brother the .308 Norma Mag why? because no one has brought it up and either would take Moose quite well. Cheers

Certain animals conjure up certain calibers, for moose, the 30-06 and Nosler partitions just seems right, even if it is not the "greatest" option. That's how I see it in my dreams!

My vote is 300 Win Mag and 180 Partitions. If it can DRT elk, then it's good enough for moose.

300 WSM with a 180 gr Barnes MRX at 14 yards lets the air outta moose pretty quick from what I've seen

Yes! NH includes 300 Savage on their list of recommended cartridges. 150 grain.

300 savage in a model 99 is the obvious answer here...

Don't laugh the old guys that I used to hunt with in moose camp used that exact combo! And that wasn't that long ago maybe 30-35 years ago

Taken a few with .308 Winchester. Not a long range outfit but very effective up to 200 yards.

Yes, from just S of Yellowstone Park on up to the Yukon. You put a moose down better be ready for Old Ephraim to join your party.

30 cal is my minimum for hunting things bigger than rabbits. Consider the 35 Whelen for big animals or the 358 Winchester: Big bullets are good.
