Moose?

Hunters need to be able to do field judging but the easiest way is to count brow tines. Some GMUs ( game management units) require 3 brow tines on either side and some require 4. A moose of about 55" or larger are fairly easy to spot and many will hesitate on shooting moose in the 50" to 55" size range unless they have the required brow tines.

Gus

OK, I have it now....doesn't seem like the best marker to have in your hunting regulations. We have the three on the brow rule down here at times and in different units too.

Me and pops in Newfoundland last September. Had my 325 wsm shooting nice out to 400yds.....shot bull at 90! What an awesome experience to share with my dad and my uncle, both in their 60s. The two men that got me into hunting.

Hey Gus I was just wondering if you would be willing to adopt a 40 year old boy loves to hunt fish .
Easy keeper and I don't take up much room .
Greg

I was just lucky dropped mine 158yds from tent in background and right in the middle of the landing strip. 66" Alaska Moose and I was just blessed. Cristensen Arms in 338 Lapua and he didn't take a step

Moose ha what is that? Those pictures jog my memory of an animal that used to flourish in south west Montana! Now we have wolf poop in the ol' moose hunting grounds.
Nice pictures guys and gals! ****, that north country looks like good time!

Was luck last year and drew a Maine tag. I shot him with a Rem. 700 Custom 7mm saum and he was 62.5 in wide. I just want to find another place to go and hunt them

I was just invited on a cow moose hunt in Maine's wmd7 during the first week of november. I don't have a tag, but a good friend of mine who I was in battalion with lives up there needed someone to treck around with.
Any Mainer's here with any experience in that wmd willing to share some input? I've hunted a bunch of different places for several different types of big game animals, but moose has never been one of em.
I'll probably buy a deer tag. No sense in walking around without a rifle :)

They cancelled our moose hunts in Minnesota due to the population declining over the past few years below the safe manageable numbers. Who know when/if that will ever be brought back into play:( .
