In the Ear? Really???

Fantastic....Looks like you finally broke the spell....You need to consider running down to the local Casino while your luck is still hot!.............:D

Maybe, just maybe, djones will break his spell of bad luck shortly and we'll have all kinds of hog pictures cluttering the site! I think he'd do better if he would stay downwind!....ROFL

I'm definitely having luck with the hogs!

I shot this guy this morning. He was about 120 yards away. I shot him in his spine, and he could only move his front lets. I was hoping that some of his friends would come back out to feed, but he was making so much noise that I'm sure he scared off every hog within earshot, so I shot him in the head twice with a .45 ACP. He still didn't die. Either I'm a crappy pistol shot (very likely) or this was Super Pig! I didn't feel like wasting any more bullets, so I went to my jeep and got my spear. I stuck him a few times, which he didn't like, and he expired a few moments later. I'm not sure how much he weighed, but I didn't feel like throwing my back trying to load him, so I drug him off for the coyotes.

I'm going back in the morning to get another one!

I'd definitely hit the casino's after work today!..........:D

Keeping a spear in the truck?....sometimes have a Bow with me, but seldom have a spear!....Regressing back to a previous life?.....LOL

Don't know what to attribute to your change in luck, unless you changed your deodorant or something or maybe just started taking showers. djones hasn't figured this one out yet....ROFL.

I got the spear after a hog hunt a few years ago. I keep it in the garage in case zombies attack.

A few years ago, I ran out of bullets trying to kill a hog. I didn't want to leave it to suffer, so I parked one of my jeep's tires on its chest. The hog had 4" cutters, so I didn't want to get near it to stab it. The spear has a 5 foot shaft, so I won't get slashed putting a hog down.

There were about 10 hogs in the clearing @ 0550 today. Scout Look Weather stated that there would be no wind.

Well guess what? I got winded. Hogs took outta there faster than I could get the shooting sticks up to take a shot. 60 mile round trip for a 3 second look at hogs.

But at least I saw them!

I bought out Wal Mart's clearance section of de,dr attractants after last deer season, and I've been using it to keep the hogs close. Hopefully the little buggers will be there again tomorrow morning. I'm planning a different approach, so hopefully the hogs will never know I'm there.

Thanks guys! Now the search is on for a lightweight version of the Grendel for the daughter to shoot. Fun fun fun.

What to use to record the hunt? It is just a mini DVR. There are a few makes of these. I don't know that any are particularly amazing, but the Angel Eyes are amongst the cheapest and less durable. All are made in China, or the internals are made in China, it seems. None are actually recoil rated, however. The trick is getting a video cable that will link the scope to the dvr. Some places like Ultimate Night Vision - The Ultimate source for Night Vision and Thermal Imaging can set you up with a DVR and appropriate cable if you tell them what scope you have (and on ATNs, when they were made or the specific type of vid-out port you have as they are a couple of variants out there).

Eye shots work well!

You are a true friend of nature! I'm sure your generous donation to the Turkey Vulture group is very much appreciated. I'm going to contact my local chapter about another donation. I'm sure they loved my donation from last week.

Got a few moments free so was glad to see activity on the thread and everyone keeping it active. Whole family is here and we're on "Terminal watch" with the inevitable conclusion, so not going to be posting much in the foreseeable future.

Afterwards, family members and friends all over the country have requested I come visit, so looks like I will be traveling extensively for a while until winter shuts me down. Will post a schedule when it has been defined. Keep us in your prayers.
