In the Ear? Really???

Here is a photo of my Ruger SR 7.62 with an Armasight Zeuss. I think I'm going to the range on Thursday morning before the sun comes up to zero it in.

So if I understood you correct you turn the ATN scope crosshairs off and use the NXS crosshairs with the illumination on ?
What model ATN and would you get that one again or something else ?

You are correct - I turn off the crosshairs and use the NXS crosshairs with the illumination on. It is the ATN Tico clip on. I bought it through Cabela's. I would not get it again due to the software basically not working correctly and ATN's **** poor customer service. I've got two Armasight clip on NV units, and am extremely pleased with their performance. Based on my experience with the Armasight NV units and feed back from others on Armasight's clip on thermal, I'd go with the Armasight clip on. That being said, there are other manufactures out there, so don't limit your choices to just Armasight.

There is a guy on the hog hunting forum - Double Naught Spy - that is WAY more knowledgeable about the thermal sight than me. I'd send him a message and get his input. He can spout all the techno babble about these things and help you make a good choice on what to get.

So my bacon wrapped turkey didn't happen, the turkey part didn't show up for the party. We only heard one gobble about a mile away on a different property. Not sure what happened to them but maybe later in the season they will show up. The bacon was scarce too but managed to get one on a long shot at dusk and had to recover and pack it out in the dark. I spotted 3 pigs at ~600 yards one of which has a white patch on his face like a cow and a huge mane. He went behind a tree so the other one got unlucky. Range was 582 yards and a lot downhill, cuz it about killed my girlfriend dragging the pig back up. Watching the shot thru the scope I saw the pigs front foot go up in the air before I heard the "whack !" from the bullet. Kinda cool.
It was still a lot of fun hunting with the girlfriend who proved to be deadly with the 10/22 racking up 23 ground squirrels, farthest at 130 yards.
A few pics of where the pig was, way down in the grass. Weather was great an so was the scenery !!
Right after that the lithium battery in my Leica HD-B died so I was lucky it calculated the shot before it croaked.

What part of the country is this? It is so wide open compared to South Carolina.

Near Paso Robles California. The drought has really killed off a lot of the hunting here, especially the upland birds.

These **** hogs are frustrating!

I drove 105 miles last night in search of pork, but all for nothing. On Saturday morning, I put out over 400 pounds of corn for the hogs, but all I ended up doing was feeding the deer, turkey, raccoons, opossums, and squirrels. I've not seen a hog in over a month. I know they will be back at some point, but dang!

Haha that's makes me feel good. If I can't hunt pigs by my house no one should.

I get to hunt for free so I'll make the trip. My son wrecked my Cherokee last August, so I'm making the trip in a 30 year old pickup. Radio doesn't work and I'm getting 10 miles per gallon. Entire trip takes over 1/2 a tank of gas.

Excuse me Mr. Snox for butting in, but, that is fairly open country compared to most of the habitat that our piggies live in most of the time here in S.C.

If you have to blood trail one in some of our thicker stuff it really gets hairy. You never know if you will run into the wounded one that is ****ed off or Momma, or even Grand Mom. Paul
