How many Michiganders putting in for Elk and Bear Tags

I can remember when Baldwin wasn't even a bear unit. Back when bear tags where still otc

I apply every year plus a couple entries into the MI Hunt. By the time I win, I will need LR rifle just to get close to an animal. Not likely due to environment. But like a lottery, can win if you don't play.

BTW you can apply for KY elk non resident.

You don't need any points to draw a bear tag in Michigan in the UP. There are units that you can draw tags every year for the third hunt. I draw every couple years in Gwinn. I drew a Bull Elk tag in 1991. Had to wait 10 years before putting in again for a bull tag. I've got something like 22 chances now and hope to draw another Bull tag and my last.

No, it use to be that you had to wait 10 years if you drew one. Now it's only one in a lifetime. I drew mine in 91 and had to wait 10 years to put in for another bull tag. I can get another but it'll be my last.

You posted 21,22 and 23 not 24 or 25. The needed points seem to be going up every year. Does look like Baldwin is dropping the number needed. Maybe you'll get lucky

Few UP units dropped needed points to draw tags also. I like it. Just wish Gwinn was one of them. Bear tags are going up to $38 from $25. Application price increased also. Doubt that'll make a difference but it's something.

OK, who has a area, or knows a good area in the UP to put in for the best chance to get a bear tag/hunt in.

Any 3rd UP hunt takes 0-1 point. There all good bear units.
