Hornady ELD-X Official Thread

I called Midway the other day. The date Hornady told them was the 28th or whatever they have listed as the backorder date. Hornady told me January 2016. We will see who's right soon enough I guess.

I have a couple of boxes on BO with Midway. They are notoriously optimistic on their in stock dates. As such , they will get here when they get here is the way I look at it.

Do you think the 162 gr .284 bullet will shoot good out of a 24-26" barrel with a 8.5 twist?

Play with Berger's Stability calculator, you will get a rough estimate since you won't have the actual bullet length's yet. that should help you out some. I would try a slightly heavier bullet and if it's above the 1.5 then you should be GTG.

They sure shoot well from my 7 saum. Sub MOA with 67.0 Magnum powder.
24 inch 8.5 twist.
That's great news! I'm in the process of finishing a 7mm short mag build and waffling on which to chamber. Knowing it's running in your rifle well is encouraging to hear!
What sort of groups are you seeing?
Any idea on velocities? I'm hoping 3000+ with a 162gr bullet.

I'll give these guys a shot out of my 300lm imp I can run the 212 at at least 3400fps.

Good call, I am waiting for my rifle to be re-barreled with a 1/10 twist to stabilize the 212's in my Lazzeroni Warbird. Spoke to Proof and they said it will be another month before the barrel is done... Until then I have to wait, I'm trying to get to the 3400 range as well. If it makes it and shoots well, I will have a nice long range killer! gun)
