Help me pick caliber for new build

Big 7 7AM Shooting 195's or Hammer 177's think 3300-3450
Nice 7 7ss Head stamped brass your all ready have the 338ss
Practical 7 7-300 A good bit of velocity plentiful brass
If you scratched the elk off the list that 6sst with a 115 dtac at 3450-3500 Wow laser beam. If you were diligent in your shot selection with elk the 6.5SS or sst. The pluses are you already have 6.5 bullets for less bench clutter. The other is next year you can build a 7mm:D

From the looks of your collection and the 338ssm you are not afraid to spend some money and wildcat stuff. I think I'd go with a 30cal or 7mm wildcat. I like the 300 Norma or 7-300 Norma or an improved version either of those. WTO already has a Reamer and cartridge design for the 7-300 Norma improved with a 30 degree shoulder which slings the 195elos at 3200...

Elk at 700? To me the 28 Nosler makes the most sense. When you are looking to take big game cleanly at that distance, you need something that shoots inside most everything else. And any more powder behind a 7mm bullet is going to be very inefficient.

It was just announced on the internet, the usmc is going with the 300 win mag for their new sniper rifle. That should say a lot.
Seriously with todays optics a 270, 280 7 mmrem mag , just to name a few. Don't forget the shermans either. Set your scope up and let her rip

So I settled building a lightweight 280 ai or 7ss ,but my new dilemma is I won a ruger american 1 in 8 twist 22-250 ( i already have one fast twist 22-250) last night do i sell it or rebarrel it. if i rebarrel it what caliber should i go with my daughter already has the 6.5 creedmoor so I'd like to do something different than that. What's everyone's thoughts

Give your daughter the 22-250 and put it in a chassis and start shooting prs with it. The 80grn class of bullets will work but a 7tw would be the new barrel for the 88-90 class of pills.

If you like your 338SS you can go the route I am. I'm in the process of putting together a 6SST and a 7SST. I needed a 6 and 7mm. Figured these had good performance. Won't get your 195 to 3000 fps though.

Title say's it all "Help me pick caliber for new build" I got an itch to start a new build help me pick a caliber. Average shooting distance is 700 yards and under. Below is what I currently have for calibers.

22-250 1 in 8 twist
6.5 creedmoor (daughter's rifle)
6.5-284
30-06 rem 7600 ( not going anywhere family heirloom)
338 Sherman shortmag
28 Nosler would fit in nicely

Seriously eyeing the 6sst for a lightweight build only thing holding me back is I wish I knew for sure if it could reach 3500-3600fps with a 100 plus class bullet

Was speaking with Rich yesterday. The first one they put together had a 26" Benchmark 3 groove 7 twist I believe. Same barrel I'm going with just 22" though. Shooting the 110 Sierra they were at 3500 fps. I'm just wanting a low recoil whitetail gun. Will run a 105-115 class bullet around 32-3250 hopefully. I think it's going to be a fun gun. So if you go 26" barrel and a 100 gr bullet 3500 fps should be doable.

I am most recently intrigued by the .300 PRC. A little odd that hornady has two factory loads out for it but I've yet to find the gun other than a custom build. I would assume things are coming
