Athlon Chronograph

Company named TideWe sells clothing, waders, hub blinds ,range finders that sell for about forty percent less than other companies, its almost the exact same stuff. Just a different badge on it.
I tested their range finders against my Sig 5K out to 1300 yards, same readings. Sig has more options on it but if range to target is your only thing. They are spot on.
I expect this chronograph to work just as well. How long it works?

For a street price of $350 +/-, I think Garmin will be in for some stiff competition if its performance is close to the Xero. Those of us who already have the Xero aren't going to switch but future purchasers who might have been looking at the Garmin are going to have to ask themselves how much of a premium they are willing to pay for a Garmin. And if I were Lab Radar, I'd be flat out scared by the new entry into the market.

Garmin products have been overpriced for as long as I can remember. Are they good, maybe. But IMO the snobs in this industry are too stubborn to admit that and will continue to look down on anyone who doesn't stand in line to pay too much like they have. Even if this Athlon was as good or even better at half the price, guys will still bag on it because they have status.

Your chrono sucks because it's not Garmin
Your reloads are junk because you don't use an AMP
Your brass is a joke because its.not lapua
You can't find any animals without swaro
Your scope is garbage cuz its not Tangent, March, ZCO, S&B....

A reason it may look like the Garmin is there may have been collaboration between the 2 companies. They are both out of Olathe, KS
Time to replace my MagnetoSpeed. Nothing wrong with it, I just like the idea of no POI interference and not down range object to hit.

I was going to get a Lab Radar before the pandemic and 2000 mile relocation that lead to a 5 year layoff from shooting and reloading.

The Garmin or Athlon look to be a "better" option and I really like the ability to mount it to an Arca rail right there on the stock.

I am close enough to Olathe KS that I can go to the shop once Shot Show is over.

Well im pretty sure I did already👍

I'm sure this product is going to work just fine but guys will hate on it because it's not a Garmin. Nothing new as with everything else in this industry. Just a simple observation.

I think I'd have to see a real world side by side comparison of the two before even thinking about ditching my Garmin Xero. Just my 2 cents, but I think Garmins experience in this field is far ahead of Athlon.
I don't think anyone will trade in their Garmin for this but it will definitely be in the conversation for guys buying new or upgrading an older chrono.
I'd bet garmin price comes down a bit tho

Garmin was the OG innovator of this style chrono. People tend to gravitate to the original, and it sets the standard. If I ask you to grab me a crescent wrench…you (probably) know what I mean…even if the wrench isn't made by crescent and had been copied by every tool name out there.

The cool thing about innovation is when you have the idea, the patent, and the production…you can set the price. Alternatively, when competition comes, it brings prices down.

That said, people are in no obligation to like Chinese products coming from stolen IP, selling it for cheaper. Nor does that guarantee a similar quality or quality control.

Competition is a great thing.

I like how no one as mentioned Labrador's LX Doppler..that came out just a little after Garmin did, that is pretty much the same price…

There was lots of talk about it when it first came out, IMO it was to little to late.
The Garmin had taken the world by storm and LR had shown their lack of Customer service with their original product.

I'm sure the new LR works fine but I wouldn't chance it, I'd go with the Garmin hands down, or wait for this new Athlon unit.
