Hello all, after testing numerous factory loads, I have found that my rifle really likes the Barnes Precision Match with the 220gr Match Burner OTM.

1. Does anybody happen to have load data to mimic that particular load and;

2. Does anyone have recommendations on a heavy hunting bullet that may be a good place to start building on to get close to the performance of the Match Burner OTM?

I settled on 200 grain eldx but my plan when I started loading was to try the 220 eldx, during the dark times this was an available bullet compared to the 200 or 212. Once I'm out of that I'll be trying staball HD as it seems to be a decent choice for heavy for cal loads.

Howdy,... 300WM. Love it.

Berger 215 Hybrid, pushed with H-1000.
Berger has a big selection of bullets in this weight category.
Sierra 190 #2231. And Sierra has a good
Selection in this weight range.
Hornady as well.
Powder selection is pretty good.
What is the intended purpose and distance. 👍

Awesome, she didn't seem to like the 200gr ELD-X factory loads which I was hoping to be her favorite since my other rifles like it.

The hunting rounds will be mostly for elk and maybe moose if I ever get lucky enough for a moose hunt.

It will be used on steel pretty often, but with performance so far, I don't see moving from the Barnes Match Burners for target shooting.

K1SSRSS , I've been shooting the 300 WM for a number of years hunting mainly Elk in Colo! Have shot,Harvested every year using the 180 gr nozler SPBT "type" bullet. Have all been one shot, one kill, from some 75 yds out to Aprox 800! Military did a comparison between the 300 WM. & the 338 Lupa Mag. Out to and Past 1000 yds, the 300 WM using the 180 gr SPBT, found that there was no real life difference between the two out to Aprox 1200 yds. So, shoot what you and your Rifle like and shoot Straight. Remember! One shot, one Kill!
PS: Good luck hunting!

Use this as your baseline, and slowly work up to it.

Or contact Barnes directly for a recommendation. Good luck!
