Favorite deer rifle

Restocked the little brother in 6.5 Rem Mag, first short mag made.... Doesnt like anything heavier than 130 gr, but the 120 Barnes ttsx WORKS.

I am also a fan of the 6.5 Rem Mag - though, I feel it is really a cartridge that finds its place in open fields. I've used mine in the woods, and through the thick, and my personal experience is that it is out of its place. I've taken multiple whitetail with it, but tend to leave it home if the walk is long and the woods are thick.

I'm also a HUGE fan of the 8mm Rem Mag. That cartridge was ahead of its time. If you want to feel some recoil, get behind one of those suckers. Jeez. It whacks like Thor's hammer on both ends - 200gr TSX at 3,120FPS.

From top to bottom:
M700 BDL 6.5 Rem Mag
M700 BDL 350 Rem Mag
M600 350 Rem Mag
M700 BDL 8mm Rem Mag

Each of the BDLs is factory configured from Remington. The first two aren't very common with around 1,500 of each being produced (to my understanding).

Up until this year my Cooper 52 in 6.5x284 has been the hammer.

Well a delightful topic of discussion. While I have a variety of different rifles to choose from, and all are excellent choices my go to gun, since the day I bought it is a POST 64 Winchester Model 70 with a 20 inch stainless barrel in .308 Winchester. I glass bedded the action and floated the barrel since I bought it before Winchester started doing that from the factory. I shoot hand loads duplicating military Lake City Match ammo using Nosler 165 gr partitions. It has been lights out for some 38 deer over the years. Most have dropped instantly with no need to trail them and very few bullets making it out the other side of the deer, dissipating all of the energy within and not blowing holes that ruin meat.

My ruger 77 ts 7x57 seems to always make it out hunting each year, it's accounted for a good many deer as well. I like to try a different rifle almost every day but the m77 gets the most use, really a perfect deer cartridge.

With deer season not far away it's time to dust off and shoot (OL PAINLESS) my 6.5 /06 shooting 143 Hornady ELDX AND RL 26
Of all of the guns in my gun safe this
Is my favorite

I've had or have most 6.5's and love them. Since I'm on the east cost mountains, 200 yds is pretty much max.
my favorite hunting rifle is a Remington model 7 chambered in 350 Rem Mag. I had another barrel made for it to 6.5 Rem Mag.
125 Nosler Partition is a lighting bolt out of this gun at 3100 plus FPS. 95% of deer drop right there
I just change the barrel back to the 350 as I'll be hunting black bear this fall.

Take your pick. Browning A bolt Micro Hunter in 7mm-08; this is my "Tree gun". Next on the hit parade is my Savage Model 10T in .308, thenits the Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5CM and last but not least is my newest playmate, Bergara B14 HMR Wilderness in 6.5 PRC. It's gonna be a tough season. Decisions Decisions. Lol.
