Favorite deer rifle

Mine is an old Remington M700, my brother shoots an old Win 70. They do the trick! Both are 30-06

Dad bought us rifles for our 16th birthdays. Still hanging on to them today. :)
I still have my grandfather's model 54 .270, Lyman Alaskan 2.5 power scope, Redfield rings and mounts. Although it is retired I still keep it zeroed and in good shape. Regardless of some barrel erosion it still shoots excellent groups and holds many memories of my grandfather whom I loved so much. My favorite rifle is an Earl Milliron custom .270 built on a G33-40 action, a thing of beauty. It has a Zeiss 3x9. Another rifle that always makes the trip is a 280 AI that I built, Shilen 24, in select match barrel,Sako action, 2.5-10x50 leupold, Pacific Research Stock, now Borden. This rifle is a do it all bug hole special.

My go-to for deer is my 6.5x284 Cooper. It has more then a couple of dozen deer under its belt taken from 200-1000 yards.

Hands down my favorite deer rig is my left hand Classic Stainless M70 in 270 Win. It's had a 3X9 Leupold on it since right after I got it in 1997. It shoots under moa and does it with most any bullet I feed it.
Hoping to work up a load it likes with some 150gr. Nosler Partitions and the RL26 I scored recently. 20FFCCC6-364A-48E8-A15A-B90BF22826A4.jpeg

Still using the one gun for everything concept! Though, I will seriously try handgun hunting again this year after a 30 year hiatus! memtb
I keep thinking about the one gun concept. I have so many now and not nearly enough time to shoot them all. Certainly not enough time to work up loads and give them the time they desperverse. I remember my younger days when my one center fire rifle was a rem 700 LH BDL 3006 I used it for everything from ground squirrels to elk. I just don't think I can part with them all though.

Thats a good gun & the cal. is great on deer & black bear. My " walkin round gun ( my grandpa's 1920's Rem Mod 141 - .35 pump ) with 200gr Rem soft round nose bullets inside 150yds was a fast shooting sledgehammer.
I was looking for a Model 700 in a .35 Remington but they cost more than it cost to build this one. Have $1000 in it

With deer season not far away it's time to dust off and shoot (OL PAINLESS) my 6.5 /06 shooting 143 Hornady ELDX AND RL 26
Of all of the guns in my gun safe this
Is my favorite
I usually take 2 rifles just in case something happens to one of them .
My trusty Browning Medallions in 300 Win Mag and 270 WSM .
The 300 usually shoots 175g Sierras but this year i may try the 178 ELD-X .
The 270WSM seems to love the 150 Nosler ballistic Yellow tips.
Either rifle seems to do the trick on whitetail .

I don't like to play favorites, but this combination has a certain mojo, and I have a hard time picking up anything else come rifle season on the prairies.

1962 Win M70 featherweight stock and action Custom Jury Stainless/ceracote barrel, 24" FWT profile chambered in 280 Rem, 1:9 twist

I have a ton of guns, but the one I always take with me is my 264WinMag. FN Supreme action, Hart barrel, Canjar Trigger, Leupold 3-9. Originally got the gun in a trade with my bro-in-law, for some fishing equipment, that he had won in a school drawing. Nothing special, but restocked with Koa Wood, and the Leupold and she looks very nice. I don't baby her and she has a lot of dings to prove it. Have taken Antelope at 50yds and deer at 450. Shoot Remington Core Loc 140 grain and accurate enough. I'm sure the 6.5-'06 is a close match and also a great caliber for anything in the lower 48...
