ELD-X on grizzly?

Heart shot Brown Bear runs 50 yards and kills hunter that shot him. Now wandering countryside looking for other victims.

Darn, Alaskan bears must be really tough buggers, or maybe there is some Sasquach mixed into their DNA. Guys have been telling whopper hunting and fishing stories since the beginning of time. Difference used to be that because everyone hunted and fished they knew a whopper when they heard it.

Wounded bears have killed a few hunters or guides. But it was because they were poorly hit. The bear may have died of it's wounds after attacking but they sure weren't heart shot initially.
You can laugh about it if you want. Go read this story https://www.policeone.com/police-he...ne-cop-carries-145-rounds-of-ammo-on-the-job/

If a human being can be that resilient, I really don't doubt natures largest meat eater can be just as stubborn when trying to convince them they are dead.

You guys should get 50 bmgs but don't use the amax, use the tungsten core AP bullets for your grizzly hunt. "Just in case."

Make sure your guide has access to a 155 howitzer...you never know....the bear might git you.

But be sure to pack them 10mm. Making that head shot should be easy when all else fails. especially when mag dumping.

The closer the animal is, the faster you need to stop him. A big Brownie at 200 yds. is one thing. The one you jump in alders at 30 yds. is something else. Remember, these animals will come after you if they are still mobile. Even a good shot to the vitals may not kill him on the spot. Its always better if the animal is unaware of your presence, and is at a distance. Where you shoot them depends on the situation.

I feel like in all of your comments you are assuming the bears is charging you and hell bent on having you for a meal...that isn't realistic, nor is it realistic to expect to get a good shot off with a bolt gun if the bear was charging you at 30 yards. Your best bet is use that big ol 358 as a baseball bat...

I have seen dudes that were dead eyes at the range choke on a 100 yard shot with a little buck fever. You are telling me you going to make a perfect head shot? Neck shot? On a charging grizzly with all that adrenaline running through your veins? You are going to have time to shoulder it and find it in your scope? Or make that perfect shot pointing the rifle in the general direction or sighting down the barrel while holding the gun sideways?

Its all just unrealistic....back to the OP - if you are hunting bears your eldx will be perfectly fine. If your goal is to defend yourself against a charging grizzly at 30 yards, bring a 12ga with slugs or maybe a 458 socom with a red dot?

Plus I don't think dudes think about how common bowhunting grizzly in Canada and Alaska is, where the shot is around 40y and in....using a arrow surely won't "drop" the animal quickly at all compared to a rifle.

The more you type, the more I think you spend too much time bench hunting and playing video games.

The more YOU type the more I think you spend to much time watching hunting shows and regurgitating half baked information.

Don't get mad because I poke fun at how ridiculous some of you sound. Thinking shot placement doesn't count and needing a supermag but then thinking your 10mm is going to work on a moving target at point blank tells me all I need to know about who the bench hunters are.

Plus if I remember right, you were the snitch from other thread probably reporting dudes:

So...ELD-X is a yes or a no on the grizzly?
Perhaps it only works on couch-potato grizzlies that only play video games of eating people?
The ELD-X is a standard cup and core with a fancy tip. Not sure if that matters to you or not.

If everything went right and a person had a good double lung shot. A fragile bullet like the ELD X would probably work.
But sometimes things don't go just right for a no bone shot.
I wouldn't use one !
A box or 2 of good tough expanding bullets isn't that much money. And its not like they won't work great for general hunting up here. Why take a chance ?
