I use dial calipers mostly when I am at the machines just to get close. just less chances for a zero not to change. I do use some brown and sharp digital's at the desk

I have a set of twin cal ip40 but I think they cost a tad more

Laugh at me if you want, but I bought a Harbor Fright caliper for everyday use because I didn't want take a chance of breaking my good dial or vernier calipers. I've been using it for over 2 years in my gunsmith class and it's held up well. I've only had to change the battery once.
