regardless of brand or action number i have a 300wm and can use either mag of 3.850 or 3.715 depending on which stock i use. now a list of current cartridges i have, then a possible list of choices (you can add other choices).

what i have currently
6.5prc
264wm
7saum
300wm

for possible change(s)
7rm
28nos
300prc
300wsm

not sure about any in
27cal
7prc
33cals

reason i wouldn't choose these
7prc, not enough gain over the 7saum
passing on the rum cases due to heavy per caliber bullets would be seated deep even when using 3.850 mags

what suggestions would you have that i could find reloading components in stock as that would be how i could make final decision(s)?

I'm a big fan of the 300wsm with a long throat, or 28 nosler with a long throat. 30 nosler is also a possibility, more oomph than a win mag or prc, but not crazy overbore. Online theres plenty of stuff for it in stock, not sure how much is in person. I don't really pay attention to the ammo availablility in store of rounds I don't shoot. So I guess my vote is for the nosler with 195 berger or 175 eldx or 169gr hammer , with second choice being the wsm with the 200.20x, 200 grain accubond, or 199 grain hammer hunter. The 200-220 grain in a long throat WSM is in my opinion the perfect weight for that round.

It appears that you are trying to fill a gap. The information below is for your consideration. Good luck!

.25 cal = .257 WBY
.26 cal = .264 WM, 6.5 PRC
.27 cal = .27 Nosler
.28 cal = 7MM RSAUM

.30 cal = .300 WM
.33 cal = .33 Nosler

I'm having McGowen Precision rebarrel a Browning X-bolt chambered in 7mm magnum with a .300 WSM barrel to take advantage of longer bullets especially the Barnes LRX Bore Rider 212gr bullet. However, in the end it's got to be whatever caliber choice serves you best. Good luck with whatever you choose!

You don't have a 25 cal… Sierra has gotten rights back to the 131 Blackjack, and Hornsby just released the 138 ATIP with a .350 g7
25 PRC or 257 weatherby is my vote

I am in a similar position. I just ordered two Bartlein 7mm 8 twist barrels to be chambered in 28 nosler for the same action. I have owned several 30 cals (300 wm, 300 Weatherby, and 300 NMI). Just not a fan. I would go 338 RUM. That case is about .100" shorter than the other RUM cases. Depending upon bullet selection. The 3.850 mag should work fine.
