7saum feeding

We have a 7saum in origin medium length with Wyatt's box kit. It doesn't feed worth a dang. Other than it being super challenging to load the magazine, the last cartridge gets jammed. It seems to be tipped up too high and the shoulder hits the feed ramp and actually puts a dent in the case shoulder if too much pressure is applied. It's like the cartridge needs to get pushed forward more but it's at such and angle up the the bullet hits the top of the chamber before leaving the mag and it's a log jam.

Anybody ever see this? It seems like a spring/follower issue since it feeds ok when there is another cartridge pushing up from below.

Any help is appreciated.

Is it a center feed mag box or staggered?
2 or 3 rounds in the magazine?
I had a similar issue with a 270 wsm in a 700 short action. Went to the flat follower with a center feed box (only 2 rounds) and the issue went away.

I tweaked my follower spring and made several adjustments, never did get it to feed right. Switched over to Hawkins Hunter DBM and probably never use a BDL magazine again. Good luck!!
That is the easy out and last resort but detachable box isn't preferred, and it's a $350 conversion.

You should contact Wyatt, they will assist and point you in the correct direction. I have three I built using Wyatt's Extended Mag boxes, I can tell you, with a lot of spring pressure, you will have issues, if it is very stiff loading, which I imagine it is, you will need to adjust the follower spring. You have two ways to do this, one of the least dramatic is using pliers to squeeze/pinch the spring at each bend, the second option is to remove the follower and insert the spring in a vise and squeeze it down until you are happy with the spring tension. I had very similar issues you are witnessing, one on a 6.5 PRC kit they sell, I inserted the spring in a vise and squeezed it down to the point I thought I had ruined it. When I reinstalled the spring, it fed flawlessly, no more excessive spring pressure, no more last feeding causing the nose to ram into the top of the chamber. One last thing you will need to watch and verify, is to make sure the follower, when you slide it into the floor plate, make sure the back of the spring is sitting at the back of the floor plate. A spring to far forward in the floor plate will cause issues loading. Just remember, if for some reason you mess up the spring, they are very cheap to replace, so don't feel like it is the end of feeding if messed up.

Kmccord offered solid advice. One other thing to try is flip the spring over from its current position. I've seen this work several times with the saum cases. It sounds like the majority of the pressure of your spring is on the shoulder side of your case and it really needs to be at the heal. Worth a shot if I'm understanding you correctly. A fail safe for saum feeding for me has always been an ADL spring but those are hard to come by now and expensive off fleabay
