I am a bit bored with 45-70, I really wanted a 338 Marlin Express but it has all but disappeared. Are there any 45-70 based wildcats that have similar ballistics?

I have an 1886, 1888 build date.
Lever feed and not 45-70 that I can find for a 1886 is the 33 Winchester, 348 Winchester and 416 Barns
That said. Anything can be designed. How does a 358/45-70 sound to you.
Pick a flat nose or lever safe bullet and I will look at some things.

I have a 348 Winchester, hasn't been fired in 25 years, gets oiled twice a year and put back in the safe…
I think this is same head size as 45-70… maybe.
I also have a 45-120, fantastic cartridge if you like recoil, mine is built on a Ruger No.1.

I reached out to a couple barrel guys today to see if getting a .358 barrel is possible. I really like the potential of 35 Greevey Express. Of course, then I have to get dies made

Looks pretty cool.
Get a chamber and sizer reamer and your smith should be able to make a die. Maybe the reamer company can make a die. I've made a couple, it's not terrible.
