7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

I too have used them in all of my rifles and they all have shot well and performed quite well.... I guess some times I have the "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" afliction and that's why I try the other bullets...... I get over it (sometimes) and then go back to Sierra time and time again.....

Hello, any luck with 160's and do the GK or MK's shoot better? Thanks, Bill

Went to the rifle range this morning and shot some loads with 150 grain Scirocco Bullets and H1000 powder with my Sendero 7mm STWs. Below is a 3 shot grouping @ 100 yards. Total group size .590" less .284" (bullet size) = .306" inch grouping.
I'm pretty pleased with the results!

I could not chronograph today because I forgot the connection wire for my Shooting Chrony Alpha Master Chronograph. I've got some retumbo powder coming today and I am going to work up some loads with 140 AB and 160 AB. I think I'm going again later this week and I'll give another range report after that trip.

Man, that thing is shootin like a lazer. Good job. My wife said nice group, but you missed the bullseye. ( she just don't get it, she tells me the same thing too).
It's getting to be Party time pretty soon!!!!!

I've shot the 160g Sierra Gamking HPBT using 77g IMR7828 and they shot well, but not great. It was a load I threw together to put my rifle on paper and also to return it to zero after I tweaked the rifle itself, this was so I had a basic load and didn't waste expensive bullets. Accuracy was around an inch at 100yds.

I haven't tried the match kings yet..... I'm sure I'll get there.. 162g Hornady A-maxes are also on the list as I have a box and a half of them sitting on the shelf. I also have a box and a half of 150g Game kings that will have a work up on them, I'll be using H1000 or IMR7828 I haven't deciede yet.

I would hunt with the 160g GK load, but I only have a handful left as they were leftovers from when I owned a 7mm Rem Mag.

I like the fact that the 7STW shoots really flat with the 140g class of bullet, but this rifle serves as a long-range rifle for both Muledeer and Elk and the STW case has the ability to launch a heavy for caliber bullet at extreme range and still have ample energy when it gets there to do the job. Running the numbers, the 175 and 180g loads still have well over 1000 Foot Pounds of energy at 1000yds and finally run out at about 1200yds. That's plenty of range for me. I'm not that good of a shooter yet.....

I just want to be sure of enough energy when the bullet gets there and have all of the ranges I shoot be covered.

Dano,I'd stick with the H-1000 if it was me

Lee,

As I have H1000 on hand and I'm out of IMR 7828 at the moment, I'll probablly do the work up on the 150s with the H1000. I do have some RL-22, maybe that's an option?

I'm sticking with Retumbo with the 175s though.

Looks like a keeper, nice shooting. Be good to see how they group out wide and how they perform on game?

Regards Steve.

Hello Dan, I used 79.5g of H1000 for a little over 3100fps and a 1'' group and 76g of H4831 for almost 3200fps and also a 1'' group. Hornady 162g SST's, I didn't subtract for bullet diameter but the gun should be grouping better. I'll be trying some slower powder and maybe glass bed the action. I'm shooting a Rem 700 BDL with a 24" barrel, 4-14x50mm leupold bc. I'll let you know if I hit the range with any other batches.

I think I've rooted out the issues I've had with varying accuracy with my 7mmstw to the stock screws wanting to loosen up. One day it'll dump a sub one inch group at 200 yards, the next week everyone else( my other toys) is shooting an inch at 200 and it won't hold 2 or 3inches. I get home and the **** stock screws have loosened up 1/2 turn- just enough for it to walk in the bedding. I'm going to get some hex-head or torx screws for it and possibly re-stock to a laminate. That'll fix the issues I've had.
Well, I ordered the hex-head rem screws. We'll see if it goes to pot with hex head screws.
I guess I've got to re-shoot my last several loads for this one after I get the new screws. ****, I have to go shooting.

Anybody have any experience with Ramshot Magnum powder? In the Nosler manual it is listed as getting the highest velocity with 160 gr bullets in the 7stw.
