7mm PRC

So far, my new 7PRC doesn't seem to be any better than my old 7WSM. They both shoot the same bullets at similar velocities. Tailored loads for the 7WSM are shooting smaller groups than the 7PRC @ the 400yd line. It's kind of surprising since the 7WSM is using crappy Winchester brass and the 7PRC loads are built with Peterson brass.

We'll see how things progress
So, it begs me to ask with the Peterson brass supposedly being a harder brass how many loads have you put the brass through? Any issues with the dreaded clicking problem that has been stated with PRC cartridges? I picked up a 8 twist barrel waiting on dialogues concerning reamer dimensions. Contacted Manson and they are going with a .534 reamer at the 200 line instead of the minimum Saami of.5330.

You will have a better chance of finding fairy wings right now, than 7STW brass, or ammo. 7PRC is a little better. Think what is going to happen two or more years from now. What cartridge is going to be available, or the components of ? Don't back yourself into a spot where you have to set the rifle aside because you have nothing to feed it.
Currently I have 100 brand new brass for it and around 100 or better twice fired brass. You can neck down 8mag brass that'll work and there's another caliber I can't think of now but heard it works too. Now if I had it to do over I wouldn't have gone that route. The 28 nosler seems like a better option in the .284 cal.

The 700LA provides great maximum magazine COAL coupled with properly throated barrel and twist for longer higher BC bullets will embarrass the PRC. If you have RL26 Pixie Dust, even more so....
I have one pound of RL26 but I'll save that for hunts. The IMR 4350 will be fine for practice out to distance and barrel break in.

The 7mm bullets are excellent for long range hunting or long range shooting period.
I do not reload so having the 7 PRC shoot factory heavies so well is ideal for shooters like me.
I hope to test it to 1200 plus yards in the next month or so, just waiting on the new range to finish up the rifle side of things
I think it will shine at those distances

I've only fired the brass twice. The rifle was chambered with an AW specd reamer. No "clicks" noted.

Reminds me of the 6.8 Western compared to say the 270 WSM, or the old Rem. 6mm compared to say one of the 6.5 cartridges out there in that there's not a lot of difference. I think IF I ever were to get a version of the 6.5 I'd have to go with the 6.5x300 just to get a noticeable difference. The same could be said for the various .284 cartridges too. Anything that keeps a guy in that 2950-3200 MVEL. hits the sweet spot as long as you are able to spin those heavier, longer bullets.
Not trying to butt into your conversation but all the different ammo and rifle companies are just trying to get you to spend more money to keep you buying The New and Improved stuff! Answer? Look at the old stuff! I shoot a 30-338 win mag in a Ruger M77 rebarreled with a Douglas Air gauged 26 in 1 in12 twist, it will push a 150 grain at almost 3500 fps an a Nosler 168 grain LRAB over 3300 fps, if you want to heavier bullets use a 1 in 10 twist or faster, do not believe anything until you shoot over a chrono. 338win mag brass is always available an just run it through an RCBS 30-338 die, load an shoot!

Yeah I've been trying to get my hands on that R26 for a while now and can't find it. Fortunately I do have a few cans of H1000 I've managed to come across. I'd take more R15 too for my smaller gun if I find that.

Luckily H1000 seems to be more and more available lately. I haven't gotten any yet but hopefully we'll have a better supply of it.
