7 PRC SAAMI approved

Just doing measurements with bullet lengths of some Berger bullets

7 PRC base to bottom of neck = 1.9932"
Berger 195 EOL length = 1.648"
So a 195 seated with base of bullet at bottom of neck = 3.6412"

Berger 175 elite hunter = 1.502"
seated with base at bottom of neck = 3.4952"

Berger 180 hybrid = 1.527"
seated with base at bottom of neck = 3.5202"
You're forgetting the boat tail is measured in that bullet oal length, 195, subtract 0.250, the 180hyb 0.245, 175 take off 0.207....... So they'll all fit under 3.35 but the 195, that's a long sucker.

you don't use bullet length for this because that includes the boat tail. you only use bearing surface and nose length and that will keep most bullets at or under 3.4
you have to remember the boat tail on the 195s is .250 and the neck is only .286 that would only leave .036 in the neck

boat tail length = 0.207"
seated with boat tail at bottom of neck = 3.2882"

looks like we posted at the same time.
honestly i am going to reserve judgment till it is released in October and people have had a chance to really run it through its paces so then can make a fair judgement

Nice effort. I'll be converting a couple of 7 LRMs over eventually so I have less expensive brass for a SAAMI cartridge. The performance will be a wash.

Can't find the Hornady 7mm ELDM and ELDX bullet lengths. Curious to figure out how much of the bullet is down in the case if loaded to 3.34" COAL.
I have some 180gr ELD-M I can measure in a few hours if that helps. Won't be exact but probably close enough.

now if you put a 40 degree angle shoulder on it you'll instantly gain 300 fps
OH NO YOU DIIDDDDD NNNNOOOOOTTTTTTT

IThe 7 LRM is a great cartridge. I just don't like being locked to Gunwerks. Plus these rifles are bequeathed to 2 people that don't reload, so it will be easier for them.
I'm with you. A non saami cartridge causes difficulty, we're excited for good factory ammo that we don't have to load!
