7 PRC SAAMI approved

This is the first I'm seeing that the intel is off. I thought everyone agreed it was just the 7 LRM by another name. I already dropped off a rifle (7 RM) and paid for a barrel. It'll be disappointing if the 7 PRC is no better than the 7 RM. I guess we'll see what happens.
The only thing it's gonna do better than a 7RM is fit in the mag with heavy bullets seated farther out

No, it is an improvement over the 7 Mag for sure, but not the dramatic improvement anticipated. Basically, you can think of it as an improved (lengthened body and neck) 7mm WSM. You have 2 or 3 grains more case capacity than the 7 Mag plus it operates at 65,000 PSI like the WSM. Of course, with more pressure and blast comes less barrel life, but if you're not a competitive shooter that practices with hundreds of rounds a year, you'll never wear it out unless you're invaded by herds of antelope. Rest easy and enjoy your new rifle. It will be the head of the "short Mag" class... even though it's length kind of puts it in no-man's land as far as action length. It is an ideal candidate for an "XM" length action you'd use for a 6.5x284 or short mag you had throated to seat long bullets. Too longbfor a short action, for sure, if you're going to run anything longer than a 140 and try to reach the lands.

No the 7mm PRC would not be a good fit for a XM action, Defiance XM mag box 3.2"
This cartridge is basically a long action cartridge as loaded length is going to be 3.3" or more
I'm sure you could make it work but you're going to be handicapped with mag box length.
It will be the perfect factory offering in a Tikka with the 3.4" mags. Better than the 7RM in that even if you did have a custom 7RM barrel.

Looks like perfection to me !

Yes the Tikka would be an excellent donor rifle, my first 7mm PRC build will be in a Sako A7 300 WM donor.
I have a tikka donor that will be a 7 prc someday! I have been wanting to make it a 7mm blaser but brass availability for the blaser mag had me nervous. the 7 prc is so close to the blaser but I'm guessing will have way more and better brass options, it's exactly what I had hoped it would be.

yeah if it gets the typical level of Hornady support, it will be a way better option for that than the blaser/lrm/saum/sherman/7RM.

How do you figure??
I had a factory tikka 7RM that sent 180s just as fast as the advertised 2950 of the 7prc

If you load the longer Pills you will need more room than 3.34"
Just doing measurements with bullet lengths of some Berger bullets

7 PRC base to bottom of neck = 1.9932"
Berger 195 EOL length = 1.648"
So a 195 seated with base of bullet at bottom of neck = 3.6412"

Berger 175 elite hunter = 1.502"
seated with base at bottom of neck = 3.4952"

Berger 180 hybrid = 1.527"
seated with base at bottom of neck = 3.5202"
