6.5 CM, 6.5 PRC Enough/Effective for Elk?

Ok, I'll play along.... Based on this comment alone, in your own words, the bullet uses energy to make a wound channel. So I would think having more energy for a big animal like an elk is a good thing. One would think that based on your comment, more energy would equal a bigger wound channel. Maybe I just don't understand your logic.

I said it does it with less energy than a 308.... Meaning it doesn't need magnum amounts to kill.
Although they do sell the xtp mag if ya feel ya need to try to get more out of one.

Hello,
I have two rifles that I am deciding on which one of them to make my main go to rifle, one is a 6.5 CM and the other is a 6.5 PRC. The only concern that I have about them is, is that are either 6.5 CM or 6.5 PRC effective on elk? I have heard a lot of people go back and forth regarding 6.5 CM for elk. But, I am having a harder time finding info regarding 6.5 PRC on elk. I prefer the 6.5 CM rifle to the 6.5 PRC. So, I guess my real question is 6.5 Creedmoor effective on elk??

I have found a 7mm rem mag that I like, but would rather not spend the cash on something while I already have something that works just fine.

Any and all info and wisdom are appreciated! Thank you!
"having a harder time finding info regarding 6.5 PRC on elk"

You'd have a harder time finding the elk if you use a 6.5 Weemoor. Just mists them into a mushy bag of skin. Even the antlers turn to powder. ;)

Most powerful shoulder fired rifle known to human kind. :D

You should choose something less powerful and lighter to carry. I suggest a M2. If that's not powerful enough, go with the 6.5 PRC.

Just kidding of course. The zealots bring this humor by being so serious. I'm not serious on this.

I have only use 338 on elk.

A prc for me. Extends my range a little for my self induced lowest limit of 1500 ft. Lbs. of energy. Around 700 yards given the right conditions. 156 Berger EOL on top of 58 gr. H1000. This big lead cow was a one shot boiler room kill @ 515 yds.
