160gr matrix? What twist u using for them! Mine shot the 130 140 AB. Well. Thats about all! I hear berger is coming out with a 155 to. I try d 142 ablr and 143 eld x. But never got it to group! Its still shooting the 124 hammer pretty decent but im gona re barrel it!

Yes, the 160 Matrix in a 1-8" twist McGowen. The 160 is the only bullet that's been shot in this barrel and I've been very happy with it and I'm up to 495 shots through the barrel with the 160 Matrix at 3430 fps.

I already had a pretty good idea what load would work so I just went straight to a heavy charge of US 869 and adjusted until I got roughly .5 MOA groups. That took about 20 shots to get dialed in and I haven't changed anything (including seating depth) since. It's still holding .75 MOA out to around 1500 yards which is well beyond the practical hunting range of this combo. Groups would probably shrink a bit if I adjusted seating depth to make up for throat erosion.

How do they do on game?

I haven't shot anything bigger than a coyote with them. They've worked really well on those though! LOL I always seem to have a different gun with me when I actually see a deer.

Based on some other expansion testing I've done, I'd say the Matrix bullets perform very similar to the Bergers on game. I've personally seen the Matrix bullets do more expanding and less fragmenting compared to a comparable Berger but I've heard a lot of other accounts of folks saying that the two perform very similarly.

Sounds like they have a tough jacket to handle that speed!

Sounds like you've got a variety of 6.5's in the safe. If extreme is what interest you Hammer has reamers for the improved RUM case, and I think the Lapua, and Norma as well.
Uncertain as to final bullet weight, but the 1-6" twist barrel is in, and we're down to waiting on a stock.

Im gona make it a 6.5 Dakota. My buddy built one. Runs 140 ab at over 3400 fps with less powder!
You may want to consider one of the 6.5x.375 Ruger wildcats. I bought a 6.5 LRM (7mm LRM necked down) from a fellow member here and I've been having a heck of a lot of fun with it. It should get considerably better than the 600-700rds through it before the throat is gone if I take care of it and keep it cool.
