6.5 156 EOL

Well got some loaded up in my .260 AI with RL26, Peterson SRP brass and CCI BR-4's. The OAL on these touching the lands is 3.020" in a SAAMI throated .260 AI that has around 1500ish rounds through it. I loaded them at 3.00" to start, so .020" off. They won't fit down in my AICS mag, but I can have one chamber and one in the mag. I may change stocks and get a bainey box and run this as a bdl in the future!!

After I try these out, I'm gonna try them again at .070" off and see what the results are. Those would fit in my AICS mags.

My 147 load is 50.4 grains RL 26 with them seated at .020" off going 3040 for a base line. I loaded from 44-50.5 grains with these with 1 at each half grain mark. And surprisingly, these 156's take up less powder space than the 147 does, and also has less bearing surface. As far as compression, I could hear powder shaking up until 50 grains, but couldn't hear ot on 50.5 grains, so right at 100% fill ratio. Excited to send em over the magnetospeed!!

that is real close to what i am finding with my wssm, i figured you would be close to 100%

Had a chance to load up four 156 EOL rounds in a PRC yesterday. 22" carbon 7.5 twist barrel. 56.5gr Retumbo, 2950 FPS. 0.015" off lands. This was from a freshly cleaned barrel at 300 yards. First shot is

the one in the bullseye. Hope this is a sign of things to come.

Started load developement in my .260 AI

Saw first sign of pressure at 49 grains with a slight ejector mark visible under a magnifying glass. First sign of bolt lift was at 50.5 grains, with a noticeable ejector mark. I was running my 147 load just under the bolt lift threshold, so at comparable pressures, velocity difference seems to only be maybe 50 fps less with the 156. Accuracy seems promising so far!! I will likely run these around 2900 fps or so to maintain good brass life

I shot a few loads with my 26 wssm started at 49 grains of 26 temp was 94 degrees :( and was pleasantly surprised, I did get extractor marks at around 3004 and bit of a hard hard bolt lift at 3060 but it was sending them in a small group. the target was at 300 yards and I sent a couple to the left but I realized I wasn't holding level. the tenth shot was my starting load with a 215 primer I held it on a different spot there were actually 3 shots with that primer but I didnt move my labradar and it didnt pick up the first two :(

I'm going to order some for my 6.5 SAUM. I'm using 1:8 twist Proof CF barrel, according to Berger Stability calc, they will roll just fine in 1:8.

@TwoMore that's a very interesting little cartridge! What's your barrel length? It seems as if the standard wssm has a very thick 20-21thou neck thickness, aew you turning this down to a more standard 14-15 thou?

my barrel is a 1-8 28 inch Bartlien , the necks are over .020 so I turn down to .014 :). not exactly going to be a popular chamber but I have a lot of brass and it has been fun

28 inches explainins the high velocity, but also shows the efficiency of the case. You running on a short action or wssm length m70 action?

actually this rifle is a switch set up that I built , it is a long action that I single feed. to be honest I didnt build it to hunt with but to shoot abunch. I don't have a rifle I can go shoot 20 times. the coal is only 2.67 to the lands so I would imagine a short action would do good
