50 Cals for Hunting Dangerous Game? Real World Experience? Bullets/Loads?

10 in. Isn't very packable in shoulder holster . Why I don't like my 8 in. 460 S&W. Plus it weighs 72 or 74 oz.. I have red dot on mine . I'd have to take off to holster. I think 6 in. or less better.

👍 Prexactly! My 8" 460 is great for hunting.....for hiking, shed hunting, fishing, ect. .....I would much prefer the 5" barrel or even the 3" from the S&W Performance Center! Both a bit lighter, and much faster to put into service!

And heavy, hard cast are the "ONLY" way to go when large, thick skinned, heavily muscled/boned dangerous animals.....may have you on the menu! This is not the place for an expanding bullet.....unless it is one designed for controlled expansion with minimal weight loss!

I'm running the Burris Fastfire 3 moa on mine. I had some serious reservations initially, but with more use.....I'm getting much faster at attaining my target acquisition! memtb

Not a real fan of bear spray. Buddy of my in LEO training withstood it and kept going. A taser gun might be better, and has more range than bear spray.
I never carried until this year. Was given one w/holster for free. If I was carrying a pistol I wouldn't of took it. One of the griz attacks last year the bear bit into bear spray bottle. Don't remember story. I'll take pistol over spray any day . A pistol or rifle you can fire a shot near the bear to scare away if possible. Spray ? Naaahhh ! Probably blow back in your face. I had happen spraying a neighbor's pitbull on my front porch growling at me in Ca.. East wind blew back into me. Got the dam dog good. Told neighbor next time I'll put his dog on his doorstep dead.

I have a little Sig Romeo 5.
Not sure yet if I'd leave it on when packing. I like them on my AR's tho.

Good day to do some reloading 😱

My "homegrown", cast bullets have a meplat of 0.73. A compromise between it's potential tissue disruption vs longer range aerodynamics/stability! memtb

I went with the smaller (3 moa) dot.....hoping for slightly better grouping potential (less target coverage) at longer ranges! But, you have to search a bit for the small dot. I'm getting better! memtb

Just below freezing here and dropping. Ice storm tonight with 1/2" ice. Dropping to single digits with snow next. I need to load shells if I can get the garage warm enough with a little space heater. Pretty nasty front.
Talked to buddy in Arkansas. Bad ice today. Fired up wood burning stove incase power goes out. My reloading room is cold AF also. Need to put a heater in it. What state are you in ?
