Twist and magazine length should be big factors. High BC bullets and getting longer requiring more twist and longer coal. For your requirements, there are many options that should shoot 1/2 moa.

I would suggest 1:9 twist or faster.

I would strongly suggest buying this rifle if you have decided on CA. IMO the integral rail is worth a few extra dollars and this is a great deal. I do not personally know him but I have dealt with him before and he is good to go.

Friend of mine has a Tikka T3 and it shoots!!! Wasn't a fan of the craftmanship until I shot it. For the money, that rifle is bomb!!!

Now a lightweight like the Christensen would be on the shortlist too. Especially at that price.

I just sold both senderos. I loved them but got sick of hauling a 11 pound rifle around. This new rifle will be used solely for elk and black bear and need it light. I feel comfortable 400-500yrds. I reload

That ridgeline looks pretty sweet, given your expected range of 500 yards and your desire to keep it light I would really take a look at getting a 300 WSM. Less powder than the 300 win (about 10 grains less) and a little less recoil in a light set up.

I have a Fierce Fury that I got at what must have been a Cabela's price mistake of $1499. It's great now but had some issues with light primer strikes at first and I'm not too happy with the factory recommended Talley base/rings as they are vertically split. I put on a 20MOA rail and used XTR Signature rings and that made a world of difference in repeatable accuracy.

The Ridgeline is only sale at $1699 at Cabela's at present. I'd be very tempted by that option.

Wondering out loud if the muzzle brake is removable on the Ridgeline? And how long it is if so...? Does it work well or make it so loud it splits your ears? Never shot anything with a brake but have never had anything larger than .308 until I just had a .280 AI barrel put on my model 70.

I've procrastinated on getting a custom rifle built for my upcoming hunts and now it's too late to have one built. I'm looking to spend 2k give or take and not sure what direction to go. I'm looking at the weatherby ultra lightweight and the nosler model 48 long range. Not sure if I'm wasting money on these and should look at other options or try to find something else on the classifieds. And opinions would be appreciated. Thx

You have gotten excellent recommendations! "IF" I were you and you have another rifle suitable for your upcoming hunts, another year of procrastination won't make that much difference now. Acquire all the components yourself now for the build and do it right and build the full custom rifle that you really want and deserve ... but that's just me.

That was my thoughts about the Tikka just didn't say it. I have a few rifles that have all been factory upgrades and they shoot with new barrels,etc. I still have the desire to be a one gun guy that is full custom. Just gotta make up my mind.

yes the muzzle brake is removable and is very good at reducing recoil.

Given your use and weight wants, Browning Hell's Canyon Pro X-bolt would be a good option as well. Under 7lbs, has a brake and great reviews and the WBY ultralightweights are excellent too. I have had those in 300Wby and was true sub moa at 200yds
