300 win mag rifles

Having owned both a Rem700 long range and a Rem700 5R gen2 in 300win mag, I would say spend the extra money on the 5R gen 2. It has a 24" threaded and fluted 5R barrel, the barreled action is stainless that has been cerakoted black. And I prefer the HS Precision stock to the B&C M40 stock. My Long Range needed a lot of work and handloads to shoot close to .5 moa, but the 5R shot .5 out of the box with Nosler Trophy Grade factory 180gr Accubond ammo...and that was before I swapped the factory trigger for a Jewell

just after trying to break in the barrel, Small Bore (22) 50 yd Reduced for 50'. Shot at 100 YDS Getting better. Working on a 208 gr and a different 190 gr pill with H-1000 and cci 250 Mag. Primers

Awesome.i like both models but I really like the 5rs just something about them and I've heard nothing but good about them

I really like the hells canyon.

My buddy recently got one in 300 WM and loves it. Says the factory brake tames it really well. The 1-8" twist gives a lot of options for bullet weight.

Same here. The R700 5R rifles are shooters. I have .223, .308 and 300 WM. All are 1/2" or better rifles and the only mod I have done is a Jewell trigger on all of them.

I also picked up a Gen 2 in 260 that I'm about to start working up for after having a Wyatt's box installed.

For the money, I don't think you would go wrong with a Rem 700 LR in the S/S model.
I have one in 300WM and it's a tack driver with 210gr ABLR pills.

Mine is skim bedded, PTG one piece bolt/bottom metal and wears a Zerotech 3-18x50 R3 reticle.
Shoots those into 1/4 MoA with no wind.

That's my vote also. If upgrades are wanted, it's very easy from starting with a 700.

I received my S/S bottom metal from PT&G this Saturday, already fitted to my Rem LR just needs disassembly and bead blasting to match the finish on the rifle.
This, and a Calvin Elite I am waiting on will make this rifle complete, in my eyes anyway.
Then I will turn it into another switch barrel set up.
Can't go wrong, rifle weighs 11.5 lbs as is now with a Zerotech 3-18x50 R3 on top.

I agree! My Milspec with some upgrades. It's quite a good shooter!

o bought a new 300 wsm $1200 rem and the throat was cut off center. new from the factory.
was the first factory rifle I had bought in 20 years. I do not buy factory mass produced rifles any more. consider saving your money while you learn how to reload your 308's.
