Having owned both a Rem700 long range and a Rem700 5R gen2 in 300win mag, I would say spend the extra money on the 5R gen 2. It has a 24" threaded and fluted 5R barrel, the barreled action is stainless that has been cerakoted black. And I prefer the HS Precision stock to the B&C M40 stock. My Long Range needed a lot of work and handloads to shoot close to .5 moa, but the 5R shot .5 out of the box with Nosler Trophy Grade factory 180gr Accubond ammo...and that was before I swapped the factory trigger for a Jewell
