300 Win Mag ELD-X load testing?

I am new to the Long Range Hunting. New to reloading. Have a new custom Rem 700 300 Win Mag with 27.5" Benchmark barrel, 1:10 twist. Just started working up a load. I have tried a few loads. Using CCI 250, Hornady Brass, 200 EDL-X, .015' off lands got .5" group. Happy with that but too slow for my liking. worked up 72.0, 72.5 and 73 but it opened up. what should I do to increase speed without loosing accuracy. Temps where about 5 degrees F, when I was shooting if that matters.

What powder are you using, and what is your velocity?

This is what happened when I started working higher with the powder. sorry forgot to mention am using H4831sc. do I need to change powders? I have also tried 200 grain accubonds, 185gr VLDs with no success. where do I go from here to get that accuracy and more fps?

Don't have a chrono but I am assuming I am about 2750 with the 71.5 of H4831sc. according to the charts.

My next step would be to try a slower burner like H1000 or Retumbo. Using the same bullet, 200ELD-X, with 79gr of Retumbo, I chronograph 2890FPS out of my 24" Rem 700 Milspec with.25-.5MOA groups.

Broz, who done a lot with the .300 WM, favors H-1000. He tends to use a 215 Berger with great success. I have had some good luck with Retumbo in my 7 Mag. Either can work well. The newer powder is RL-26 that some really like. Bruce

How many have been having success with factory 1:10 twist? I have a buddy who bought a Sendero 300 win mag and it doesnt shoot the 215's? I know they recommend 1:9 twist with the slower speeds they produce out of the 300 win. My ultra shoots 215's unreal but 3125 fps.

My 1:10 twist Remington Milspec shoots the Berger 215's exceptionally well. I ran my typical conditions, twist, velocity(4500ft) temp(45F) on the Berger Bullet Stabilty Calculator, and the 215 came in at 1.67-"comfortably stable". 150 is the optimum.

Is RL-26 fairly temperature stable as well? As I will probably using shooting in temps ranging from 0 F - 90 F?

What are you running for powder and charge?

My .300 WM w/ a 26 inch barrel shoots the 215's at about 2980 FPS and gets about 1/2 MOA groups. It is a 1 in 10 barrel. Seems to work pretty good for most. Bruce
