300 Win Mag ELD-X load testing?

I 100% agree. The 79gr load showed no extreme spread or standard deviation (unless i missed it) and they are shot at 200yards. Take it to 750+ and see how the vertical holds up. If not good keep that 77gr load in the back of your mind.

I dont have a 300win but i have a 300 saum and im waiting for the weekend to test some of the 208 eldm bullets. Very interested in how they perform for you at range.

No worries. I should have also added to my last post about the primer flattening. There is very little difference between 77 and 79 gr. I kept three of each to compare the last couple trips and I really can't tell the difference.

I'm going to see how they go out to 400 and 500 yards tomorrow.

Sorry just saw page 7. The es looks good there too. Disregard my posts haha.

74 gr RL-26 9" inch gong at 300 yards. I'm surprised it shot this well into the crosswind. It's still early in testing but I was never able to get the Accubonds to shoot this well.

I'll be shooting out to 500 yards this weekend so I'll give another report

Winchester Brass/Fed 215 primers. C.O.A.L is 3.50" All bullets are seated at .1 off the lands so they have a pretty good jump. Chamber OAL is 3.60" touching the lands.

Some nice shooting right there !
I am interesting in your 79 grs. H1000 load...
I may have missed the full details, so be patient if I am asking again..

Could you let me know the OAL, Jump, primer and brass you've used ?

Also, what barrel length/twist rate are you using ?

ELD-X 200 grs., right ?

I am waiting for my barrel to come in and I've got everything lined-up.....almost.... :D

Thanks a bunch.

79gr H1000 300wm tikka T3, 24" 1-11.25 barrel twist. 3.502 coal sub half MOA group with 4 shots at 150yds. Had two left so I guessed about 2850 fps and plugged it into the ballistics AE app. 545yds 10.6 MOA and hit about an inch low and the two shots were just under 2" apart but good height. I'm happy! Been working hard to find a good load and just couldn't get these to shoot close to the VLD Bergers till today!!! Thanks for the info Excaliber

+1 for 79gr H1000 with the 200 gr ELD-X
GAP Non-typical 300WM. 24" Bartlein barrel with 1-11.25 twist.
Norma brass, Fed 215, 0.010 off the lands for COAL of 5.580
Average muzzle velocity 2920 @ 70F and 1200 ft elev.

I found 76.5 grains H1000 with the 200 grain to shoot a little over 2900 out of my gun and was the most accurate load I tried. 77 actually slightly slowed down and wasn't as accurate.

WLRM primers, Winchester brass, 3.425" coal. I use the mag box.
26" bartlein barrel 10 twist.

Has anyone tried retumbo ...I have shot the 212s in my 300 with h1000 and imr4350 the h1000 produced higher velocities however the imr4350 grouped better with a lower sd and I shoot imr4350 alot with my other guns but just curious about retumbo.

Hi Folks,
I'm gonna try the 200 ELD-X in my 300 WM - 26" 1 in 11" sporter barrel, using H1000 powder, Federal GM215 primers and Norma brass.
First of all, do you think this bullet will be fully stabilized with the 1 - 11" ?
What load charge di you suggest ? and what seating depth ?
Do not have to stick to mag. length, as I'm single feeding.
Thank you for your help !

Re: 300 Win Mag ELD-X load testing

Just tried some Hornady 200 gr. ELD-X in my 24" Remington 700 Milspec 300WM/NF ATAC-R. 79gr Retumbo, Norma brass, Fed215M, 200gr ELD-X seated.020' off the lands. For 10 shots avg velocity 2890FPS, ES 11FPS(Lab Radar). This is the same load that I use with Berger 210Hunting VLD's and Berger 215's. Velocity, ES, POI, and group size is very similar for all these bullets in my rifle.

first post here...
I have just started playing with the 200 eldx in my 300wm.
my pet load is 185 berger vld targets with RL-22. Normally half moa or better, but seems to be temp sensitive and very finicky...

I started loading the 200eldx with RL-22, .02 off lands.
today = 27deg, no wind. 500ft elev.
I loaded from 68.5 to 72g in .5g steps.
best 2:
69.5 - SD of 5 2770fps avg. decent grouping at 200, but falls apart at 400+
72g - SD of 9, 2870 fps avg. 2" at 200, and around 3" at 400.

after reading thu this thread, i am considering loading up some with H1000 since i have a little on hand. according to the Hodgdon load info, 76.2 is max but it looks like a lot of people are having good luck at 79g, so I will start at 75.5 and load in .5g steps and keep an eye on things..

does H1000 seem to more temp stable (consistent) in your experience?

thank you all in advance for your wisdom

I am new to the Long Range Hunting. New to reloading. Have a new custom Rem 700 300 Win Mag with 27.5" Benchmark barrel, 1:10 twist. Just started working up a load. I have tried a few loads. Using CCI 250, Hornady Brass, 200 EDL-X, .015' off lands got .5" group. Happy with that but too slow for my liking. worked up 72.0, 72.5 and 73 but it opened up. what should I do to increase speed without loosing accuracy. Temps where about 5 degrees F, when I was shooting if that matters.
