280 AI hand load favorites.

I'm at 57.4gr RL-19 with the 145gr LRX in Hornady brass and a CCI 250, I used a Foster-Manson reamer to cut my chamber. I too am going to try SB6.5 and H4350 - keep us posted on your results please.

SB6.5 is amazing in my 257 AI - replacing RL-17, shooting the 101gr LRX, 110 ELD-X and the 115gr Berger over it. Apologies for shifting off topic a bit.

Cajun, are you in Louisiana?

I too use the 150 BT in 284 WIN hunting rifles as well as 150 ABLR.
I found the 150 BT actually causes a bit less entry damage than the ABLR at <150 yards but similar damage beyond that.
Both exit very well with silver dollar holes.
Yes sir. My french people are from Ville Platte but we have been around these BR rednecks so long we sound just like them lol.

Ah.
I'm 8 miles from Ville Platte and 12 miles from Eunice… kinda in between.

Might know some of y'all folks!

My wife's people are from Ferriday… that's some rednecks for sure.
I chuckle at their accent when they speak and they chuckle at mine! Lol

If you have not tried the Speer 145g Hot core and BTSP, you maybe pleasantly surprised at the accuracy and terminal performance for closer 450 and under ranges. The Hot Core flat base thinks it is a partition just like the Hornady Flat base.

I also found the 150g Nosler Ballistic tips to be MUCH tougher than the 140 counterpart, but I have never had a failure of the 140g Ballistic tips on deer, they are for sure much tougher than the Berger 140g vld hunting that grenade the internals of a deer in the 7/08 at 2850 fps.

There is a load with R#25 using Win Mag primers in the 7 Mag that shoots those 150g Nosler ballistic tips in a ragged hole in 4 rifles in my family at 3250 fps, with 9 fps SD, same for the 154g Hornady sp. I bought several boxes of the Hornady 150g ELDX to try with this load.

In our deer club, we converted a bunch of guys shooting 308s and 30/06s to using a 7/08 with the 130g Speer btsp with max load of IMR 4895, 3000 fps....deer flop on the spot, with little recoil. I loan out my rifle for a few weeks and so does my brother, we have had a hard time getting them back sometimes! Hee Hee!

120 & 140 NBT, 140 Accubonds, 140, 175 Partitions. Thanks.

OP, I would also like to know favorite 140 BT and AB loads for 1:9" 280ai.

Unfortunately, I don't have one as I got 1/2 MOA with 140 TSX and RE22 59.5 grains with winchester large rifle primers in my Montana with a 24" barrel.
