270 win build

How would forming be different for the Sherman. I would love to have that kind of accuracy for hunting 300 and less.

Forming is pretty much the same as an A.I. except that you leave a "false shoulder" on the neck by not sizing it clear back. You can use .280 or 280 A.I. brass and just size it back to 270 far enough to obtain stiff bolt closer or you can size 270 up to 280 and partial size it back. The other method is to simply load a moderate load and seat the bullet so it jams into the lands. This is important for proper head spacing. The cases come out looking just like an A.I. would but the body has less taper and the shoulder is moved forward.........Rich

Well my barrel came in 3.5 months sooner than expected. Pretty happy with it, can't wait to see how it shoots.

7lbs... You must have ordered an MTU or M24 contour. That oughtta ve a shooter. What finished length are you going for?

Nice, makes me want to order a .338 barrel and start a project. Maybe not quite that long.

I noticed that you changed the twist rate after you ordered the barrel. When you order, are you basically putting in a "place holder" order and then do the final spec later (since lead times are so long) or was that sort of an exception ?

Remington placed my order and then about a week later changed it. They stated a 5 month lead time originally, but it arrived in 6-7 weeks. I don't know how or why it arrived so fast. But I'm glad it did. I guess if you felt like you may change something you could order your barrel and ask that you be called before they start.
