270 win ABolt 1:8 build

I'm curious where your getting the load data from for the Sierra's? I have a 7.5 twist 26 inch barrel ordered I'm doing for my dad
I have not loaded for this rifle yet as it's just getting built, but I have seen others post from there experience and data from reaching out to Sierra.

Look what the UPS man brought me! Got the scope mounted and now I just need free time to get the barrel break in done.

Did OCW testing yesterday on 3 bulllets. 170 EOL Berger, 165 Nosler ABLR and 175 Sierra TKG. I also Chronographed 1 round of each group (loaded 4 of each).

To me, the Berger is shooting a little better, but I dont really like to hunt with Bergers. The TKG also looks pretty good and may be great at a different seating depth. Heck they may all be better at a different depth.

Will Weaver rebarrel all Abolts? I have the dreaded stainless .270 Abolt and would like to rebarrel it at some point. I've heard many Smith's won't touch the stainless Abolts due to threading and epoxy...

Also, what did you do to the mag to increase COAL?

Yes, well he rebarreled mine. They were great to work with so I'd suggest you call them since yours is stainless but I don't recall him ever asking me if mine was so I don't think it'll be a problem for him. I can tell you when I called McMillen about ordering my stock the tech support guy told me Kevin was the best when it came to redoing A-Bolts. As for the magazine on the bullet end there is a solid block of aluminum that can be milled out to allow clearance for the longer bullets.

Turned out really nice , slick looking rifle ,I bet those Hammers will really tighten things up but remember too thoroughly clean the bore for best and accurate results before shooting the monos . That is the recommendation, by Hammer bullets good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the reply! I'll keep Kevin in mind for down the road when I look to re-barrel. I'm going to mill out the mag like yours since my bullet tips in the mag are getting beat up during recoil.

How was it working with McMillan on the stock and do you know what the lead time was from order to stock delivered to your smith? Mines a lefty, hopefully they can make those.
