25 cal barrel just arrived. What would you build?

@Justice1327,

Nice quarter bore selection thus far.
I may ask to borrow/rent your 25-308AI reamer. Lol

As for your cartridge, obviously you don't have any issues with having a wildcat cartridge.

Have you considered the 250 Savage AI?
Or even the standard 250 Savage?
257 Roberts & AI are viable options also.

Not sure about your twist choice on the barrel.
It will let you shoot the 100gr Monos from Hammer & Cutting Edge.
But might be too slow for the 133-135gr bullets out there.

Thanks. I sold my 257AIs after I decided to do 25 creedmoor
I haven't had any stability problems thus far and I'll probably be going to a faster cartridge so I think it'll stabilize

Nice to know.
Most guys, from what I've been reading, are using 1:7.5 twist for the heavies.

So, I guess the question is how fast do you want to go?

25-06 territory?
257 Weatherby?
25 RUM?
6.21 Lazzeroni Scramjet?

Note, the Scramjet would require a new bolt face.
Ditto a 25-378 Weatherby.

While thinking about choices, consider:

Brass availability
Die availability
Reamer availability

Barrel life you expect

By the time you get it all together, consider the amount of CASH it is going to cost, $1000 would be cheap.

Very true
I'm leaning towards using something I already have an SAAC die for
Not really concerned about Barrel life as this will be purely hunting and I have so many rifles. I don't think I would ever shoot the barrel out of my lifetime.
With Lapua making 300 WSM brass and the ADG making SAUM and Max brass these are the ones I'm leaning towards.

It's just a case I mocked up. But Id guess the 25grendel will do 2600-2700 in a 26" with 135 bergers.

I'm running 131s in a 18" 25SST at 2850fps now.

Although I'm liking the idea of a 25/260imp though.
20" suppressed rig running 135s at 2850-2900.

25 creed improved.or take the 7 saw case neck it down to 25

25PRC would be the easiest if you have SAC dies for the PRC's and there's already reamers out there. Runs 135s about 3170 in a 26" with h1000 pretty much the same as the SST.

I'm not far from WTO and he has a 25SAW reamer it would be the easiest route.
I'm in no rush though I have another SST barrel and some other new projects to shoot.
