25 cal barrel just arrived. What would you build?

I would look at a 25-7PRC. Probably just a simple neck down of the 7PRC. Then you get a real screamer

OP didn't specify preference of LA/SA...
I was gonna suggest .25-6.5 PRC for short action. Getting set to build a 7-6.5 myself (7mm supporter here).

Quarterbore has always interested me, but I'm not satisfied with the VLD bullet selection for long range target.

Definitely 25 Max. I bet it will run with 257 Wby and 25/7PRC or scary close with less powder and erosion.

I had a great time with my 25-300WSM (Pronghorn), it is almost as fast as a 257 Weatherby and superbly accurate.
However, mine was built on a standard action length Win Model 70 Classic Stainless (3.4") and had barrels in 6.5-300WSM and 270 Weatherby. Unsure if this would work in your actions.

The wheels are turning.

Pushing a 135gr at 2600-2700fps in a 28" barrel. Puts out some impressive numbers in a ballistic calculator and it's the best external ballistics possible with a 26gr powder charge. Low recoil, excellent barrel life, very efficient cartridge, It has a lot of pros!
