.25 cal 131g .330G7 bullet from Blackjack Bullets for you to drool on ...

After hearing about the heavies for the quarterbores...I looked into the 25-284...Pac-Nor had the print for the 25-284 chamber...

As usual, with their great customer service, they sent me a print of the 25-284 chamber...

They sent me this...

So as I see it...this print had no free bore...I asked them about this...and Pac-Nor agreed. They just said load a couple of dummy cartridges and they would throat it for me...

So...Blackjack...the ball is in your court...:)

Hammer has a good looking 128 gr 25 caliber copper bullet with a listed G7 BC of .244. This 131 gr bullet has a listed G7 BC of .330. Why so much difference between the two?
It is as was posted before. Kind of the nature of the beast. The larger meplat of the hollow point bullet and the length to weight ratio. The lower density of the pure copper holds it back a bit.

One thing often forgot is, yea high BC is often sought after and how most bullets are judged now a days, but velocity can often suffer from the high BC bullets being usually heavy for caliber. There's a lot to be had from a lighter bullet going faster. It often can have good enough trajectory and energy levels are pretty close. So a bullet with a consistent but lower BC going very fast can rival a lot of the heavy high BC bullets in the same cartridge.
I know I'm preaching to the choir Steve, I don't have to tell you that. Lol
High BC does win in the end, but there's something to be said for consistent expansion and accuracy/precision.

From a sales perspective the Match community used to be small but is now EXPLODING - weekly local matches, monthly state matches, more national matches than anyone could hope to attend. Most of the Match shooters use Bushing Dies which can easily turn 6.5x47 Lapua and 6/6.5 Creedmoor brass into an immediate 257 variant. These guys shoot thousands and thousands of rounds a year and since getting 25 Caliber bullets to market is a challenge we started with the high volume shooters so a smaller population of guys would help us be a viable business. (50 guys and barrels x 3000 bullets per year = 150,000 bullets as compared to the 750 guys and their barrels it would take shooting ~200 rounds per year). We knew we'd need 75-100 barrels to make this work so we ordered roughly 100 high-end blanks and will be getting another 100 more affordable Rock Creek & X-Caliber button blanks.

On the flip-side there are millions of hunters and long range hunters but often they do not shoot 5000 rounds a year and many only shoot 20-100-500 rounds per year out of 25-06, 257 WBY, 25 WSM, 25 Gibbs, etc.

Of course in reality we are providing a great bullet for both markets. But we made sure the 131 fit Match Rifles and 2.880" magazines as a primary design parameter - the mass and length of that design work well in long actions as well. Similarly the Long Range Hunting bullet we will be releasing will outperform all of the Target 6mm's, and most of the 6.5's. : )

Soon enough Blackjack spec 25-06, 25-06 AI, and 257 WBY reamers will be on the board for order at Manson and JGS and we will have a few to rent out.
You guys have a great vision and I believe it will be a success. I'm curious, how would a 250 savage run the 131 compared with the cm and 47l wildcats?

The 250-3000 Savage may run better than I expect but I'd just jump right into 25x47.

It showed great efficiency running to 2950 fps with a normal powder load with no pressure. The stellar and sturdy brass is hard to beat too.

Yeah the modern designs would be better, just curious on your thoughts, because it fits right in with the capacity, I'm guessing the 6xc could be formed from 250-3000 brass

We will have 25 XC reamers in about 6 weeks. You will be able to buy David Tubbs awesome dies and then have the bushing bored out and run them for 25 XC no problem. When we get closer I will probably have some of those bushings made so people who don't have machinist pals can buy one cheap and get going!

high BC is often sought after and how most bullets are judged now a days, but velocity can often suffer from the high BC bullets being usually heavy (and long-me) for caliber. There's a lot to be had from a lighter bullet going faster. It often can have good enough trajectory and energy levels are pretty close. So a bullet with a consistent but lower BC going very fast can rival a lot of the heavy high BC bullets in the same cartridge.

High BC does win in the end, (the very far end-me) but there's something to be said for consistent expansion and accuracy/precision.

I think this bears repeating and for careful consideration before so many more jump off the deep end ordering new reamers and trying to fit long/heavy for caliber bullets into magazine length boxes for hunting. I'm not stating this is the only only answer, just more thoughts for your consideration. :D

Regards.

Once you can get a steady supply to Canada, I'm thinking a 257wby with a light Palma barrel will be just the thing. That goes for hammer bullets too.

Who is the major supplier of Long Range Bullets up there? We are going to try to get some to AU and CAN if we can jump through the hoops. We have not done any of that before, but want to help out the customers who want them and will give it a try.

I'm not sure who brings in a lot of the bullets to be honest, but looking forward to getting some up here

Well, we just secured our avenue to export to UK and Europe so that is looking great. Need to find a retailer who is willing to distribute Blackjack Bullets & Blanks up North and in Australia if you guys have any contacts.

Pretty exciting to see some bullets scheduled to go overseas already.
