.25 cal 131g .330G7 bullet from Blackjack Bullets for you to drool on ...

Kind of sums up why the .25's haven't progressed.
Why? I was talking about forming down .300 Norma brass to something the size of a short-action, not the 1/4-bore in general. There are plenty of exceptional 1/4-bore cartridges and designs already on the market for many decades that are being underutilized as they are.

I was referencing YOUR post and THIS thread...Not anything from the past. And yes, I still think there could be SOME improvements for bullets in the 10" twist. May not be much, but at the time, nobody was really trying either.
I never referenced you in this thread until you injected your self. Don't start a ****ing match. This is a great thread.

Go back and read your post-Why not phrase it this way to begin with. I believe Dollarhyde has that answer, he's obviously putting in the sweat equity.

If you can't see it as a discouraging comment-maybe try to see it as not encouraging. This is one of the few embers in the .25 caliber discussion, wouldn't it be in your interest to fan that little bit of glow?

.25 owners seem to vacillate between, "fine just the way they are" and "why no love for the .25's".

Good thread, I hope to hear more about the formed brass, capacity etc, and this is as far down this side track as I'm going.

Here's a little picture I cooked up for a guy that was wondering today why we just didn't stick with the good old reliable 270 Win and shoot the 130 grain pills out of it.
- Best case scenario for the 270 Win - 130 grain Classic Hunters.

I figured we'd just do an apples to apples comparison and run the 131 grain 0.257" Blackjack and the 130 grain 0.277" at the same velocities since recoil was part of the discussion.

In terms of simple Trajectory the benefits to the 0.330 G7 BC are there, but when you consider shooting 33% less wind running the 0.257" Blackjack than the best 130 grain bullet in 0.277" it's kind of a no-brainer!

These charts were made using AB Analytics and contain spin drift and Direction of Fire, so the numbers may vary slightly from other simplified calculators.
There's nothing wrong with 270 Win, but the help of the 131 grain ACE's BC really shows up in spades from 600 yds and out.

Good for you guys to go after the 25cal. Hopefully you can light a bit of a fire. The 7" twist is exactly what the 25 needs to be competitive with the 8" twist 6.5's.

Your attachment does a great job of illustrating when bc takes over. You are showing a very good bc bullet matched with a decent bc bullet and the 600y mark is where the very good bullet takes over. I think many guys don't realize that when they don't shoot past 500y bc makes very little difference.

I hope this takes off for you guys. Should be a great fit between the 6mm and 6.5's in the competition world. The 6 Dasher could be in trouble!

Blackjack are you going to be carrying any lighter contour barrels? maybe something in the #3-4 contour range? thinking a simple 25-280 ackley would be a sweet rifle.

I will have 3 Lilja contoured like that of the Weatherby Ultalight contour that are on some MK V's.

We also have four Rock Creek blanks unspoken for that we could probably do a #4,5, or 6 if you want to put your name on one. That will be a nice combination for sure!

Now we're talking. so, somebody with some pull call up Proof or Carbon6, get them to make a nice sendero contour 7tw 25cal. I'd be on the first order list for one of those for sure.

I thought that by going 9tw on my current 25-06 that i'd be in good shape. sounds like I'll need to cook it a little sooner so I can get a 7tw to run these suckers.

Hammer has a good looking 128 gr 25 caliber copper bullet with a listed G7 BC of .244. This 131 gr bullet has a listed G7 BC of .330. Why so much difference between the two?
