240gr. Mk seating in 300WSM?

Read my post I stand behind what I said. If I read your post incorrectly I am sorry. But your words here (But there should be no dispute over the increased velocity potential with N550. It will improve your velocity, and I know it would help TacticalHits push the 210grn Bullets at 3000+fps out of his rifle) seem to guarantee that he can use vv550 to do the impossible....well it is possible but only with stupid pressure.

Man I am sorry but you posted something I consider dangerous. If I post something that could hurt someone I hope that someone calls BS on me. The safety of others is more important to me than any online credibility. I admit I am a newbie that I do not know much, but if I have enough sense to see that something is dangerous I feel I have a duty to the users here that may have more meager knowledge than myself to point it out.

BTW I do agree with your general statement that a 300wsm will handle 3000fps with 210s in a 30 inch barrel.....just not with the powder you are guaranteeing to do it. I have shot 208 A-maxs out of my 300 wsm at up tp 3200 fps with vv560. I have a 13 twist and a long throat in my 28 inch barrel and it was a hot load I do not reccomend it to anyone. But to reccomend some one try it with 550 is irresponsible. We will agree to disagree that it can be dome safely with vv550 I guess. Oh well at least tacticlehits has been warned, he can take the advise given here for what it is worth. I am through with this topic.

Eddybo, AS LONG AS HIS RIFLE IS SET UP CORRECTLY AND HE USES A 30" BARREL WHICH I STATED IN MY FIRST POST, HE COULD PROBABLY GET BETWEEN 2900 TO 3000FPS. Eddybo, you're wrong and I wish you would apologize for your statement as it's not correct. I don't have a problem with you either, however, please change your statement.

I know! I just had some questions and now everyone is trying to kill each other! Maybe its how I word my posts that drives everyone crazy? But, seriously guys half of my thread is name calling now. I say we settle this with a 1000yd dual!gun)

Thanks though for all of the advise!

I might have asked this before, but what rate of twist should I get my 30"Hart barrel in for shooting the 210gr. berger VLD's? Thanks,

Also, should I go longer than 30inches?

Old Sage

is what I may be described as being---among other things-- and someone made an error in suggesting VV550 when it should have been VV560; BFD!!! If anyone on this forum would go and load up rounds using the data given here without running it by no less that two computer programs and load data book for pressure and velocity before proceeding, he is an amateur loader. It just so happens that I am quite serious about the 300wsm and have unofficial high pressure loads that would cross your eyes as they are not for factory actions, not for hot weather, not for dry bullets and not for hot primers and NOT for publication!!! Having said that, a 187JLK can and is used with great success at 1,000yd benchrest matches and Berger makes a super 190gr moly match bullet for high velocities with a 1-11 twist or so---. I also down load the 300wsm for custom AR-10T uses with a 155gr and have compiled my own data manual on what may work. I would not try anything over 210gr bullets even if BC is your thinking without looking at match results at 1,000 yd BR to see if the idea is reasonable as velocity plays its part. Having never ever made no errors in my 71 years I will say bad things about the load but then again I selected Pan Am as my employer; my last pay check is still Flubber and I received 9.5 cents on the dollar for what they owed me-- Yep, I are perfect-- so are my spellink--- Overbortfe er, Everbore or Overbore???

TacticalHits, I would go with either a 1-11.5 or 1-12 twist. I would stick with the 30" barrel. Good luck.

EDDYBO, you are trying to turn a sentence into something it's not. I never guaranteed anything. I am done, you can think what ever you want, however, you are wrong.

That's the point many are amateur reloaders, everyone is at one point and no one starts out an expert, that takes experience...

Hey, I was shooting my 300wsm yesterday at 100yds and the first 3rounds are under 1inch and then the fourth round goes like 4 or 5inches off? These were like the 25th through 29th rounds put through my stock 24inch barrel, the bullets were 180gr. Barnes Triple Shock off the shelf. Is my barrel just not broken in yet? The first 20rounds through the gun were 180gr. cheap win. power point, and the last 9 were the triple shocks.

Thanks Nathan,

TacHits either;

1. You pulled the shot
2. or Your barrel was too hot

Maybe some of the other guys will have a better answer for you.

W.

I don't think I flinched, but since the barrel is a bull barrel it gets hot fast! It probable was just to hot. Do you think it should be broken in by now?

It has been doing stuff like this even with the power point ammo too. ( I need my 30" Hart barrel!)

TacHits, I bet the barrel was hot. Yes, you need your Hart barrel. You're going to see huge difference in accuracy. I bet it shoots 100 times better with the Hart.
