My deer and antelope tags have came and went, lots of small bucks but never did find the ONE.
The daughter did however fill her first big game tag with dads help. 325 with the 6.5 Grendel and 123eld

First buck, alpine blacktail in the cascade mountains. Jumped him out of his bed, 60yd shot. 7mm 180 Berger entered through his front shoulder and balled up on the offside hide past the ribs. Grenaded his internals and was dead within seconds. Rolled to a stop 15yds from us, couldn't have gone more perfect. Good forky with a massive body.

West Virginia Bow Kill.
Howdy all, I haven't bow hunted in over 5 years. This year I took my bow to one of my buddies that owns a bow shop.
Asked him to go over my Hoyt Vectrix I bought in 2007 and my Gold tip Expedition carbon arrows. A week later he calls, said everything ready.
He put a new string on the bow and reflect my arrows. Set the poundage on the bow to 55lbs.. This made it much easier to draw back. Practice from August to October, are season opens first of Oct.
Last weekend I put up a new ladder stand.
Today I got in my stand at 0.dark30 at 33*
Like to of froze my a.. off. But I stuck it out. Seen deer all morning, the ruts in .
Little bucks chasing does. A shooter 6 point came in, this deer is 4 to 5 years old,
But only a 6 . Seen him last year.
He came in to 25yds, good distance for me. Pulled my bow back and let that Gold Tip with a 145 Delta Snuffer fly. Can't help but say I made a perfect shot, Double Lung, it went through him so fast he stood there for a few seconds wondering what just happened. Then stumbled around bouncing from tree to tree for about 30yds, fell over sideways.
I sat down shaking, I hung my bow on a hook setting there saying Holy Moly
Thank You Lord. I have shot 50 to 60 deer combined with Bow and Rifle. And it's still just as exciting as my First deer.
Pictures aren't the best but Thanks for taking the time to read this. 😁

I had a mtn lion come through chasing deer while I was in a treestand with my bow. Stopped at 20 yards staring at me. I wanted to take the shot with the bow, but she never gave me a broadside shot so the pistol was second-best option. Sure, I wish she was larger (she was about 70 pounds), but she was by herself and legal and I'm looking forwards to trying mountain lion meat!View attachment 495631
I thought it tasted like a sweet flavored pork.

The most important hunt of the year first, my Sons 2nd mulie. He hiked hard, never complained and did a great job on the pack out. 330 yards with his 6.5 CM. We took about 30 minutes to cover 400 yards to get as close as terrain would allow and then another 10 minutes quietly getting him set up with a shooting setup.

Then my MT mulie (disclaimer; my first guided hunt). 500 yds with 7RM and 155 Hammer Hunters, top of heart and went 20 yds.

Struggled for both of my elk hunts; moon, high temps, wolves and too many people. Had two bulls get shot out from under me in rifle season.
