175g Hornady ELD-X loads for 7mm Rem mag

SC- I had a model 70 Laredo (no boss). the trigger was not bad . my son in-law won a 1000 yard match with it. with a hart barrel it should shoot everything good. enjoy. ron

Well I shot some 175's today and will shoot again tommorrow. 71 and 71.5 retumbo did well. H1000 70.5 was pretty good also.

Just received my 7mm 175 ELD-X's. I'm getting .48 inch groups for 3 shots (100 yds) with Berger 180's , 72 grains Ret., kissing lands, out of my stock Remington 700. Confirmed and calculated FPS at 500 yds is 2980/3100 respectively. Wondering if I just pull some loaded rounds with the 180's and use 72 grains of Ret. over 175 ELD-X's if I'll be o.k. with pressures. No signs of excessive pressure with 180's.

I did 69.5 H1000 with the 175 Eldx the col is 3.400 at 2980 fps shoots good and groups well at 550 yards so far haven't shot further cuz it was snowing yesterday.

I almost posted the same question of couple months ago as there is very little reloading information available for the 7mm rem mag and this bullet.

Testing loads on a browning xbolt using the 175 edlx, winchester brass, Fed 215 and retumbo. Tested jumps from 0.01 to 0.1. Getting less than 1/2 MOA at 200 yards with 68 grains with some jump at 0.1" (COAL to bullet tip is 3.340"). This load is on the warmer side with this gun at the shorter length.

I like hornady brass or lapua and nosler it seems to be more consistent at long range And retumbo powder I found walks to the right at longer ranges.

I searched all weekend looking for load info too. I was looking to use the data load some 180 eld-m. I used the 60.5 max from the hornady manual. I thought the 60.5 max was low, but couldn't any field information.

I'm shoot once I return home.

I found that 70grains is too Hot for my Rifle. Bolt was a bit stiff, plunger marks and the brass was damaged during resizing. I was getting 3050 so I will drop one full grain and restart. The group was decent, about 5/8.

I found with my 7mm it only liked the upper end with H1000. I'm shooting 69 grains getting 3035fps, and .25 inch groups. Haven't shot farther than 100 yards yet. Dot in pic is .75 inch. 26 inch barrel.

That's good velocity.
How long is that barrel?

I loaded the 175 in my ridgeline and I'm getting 3035fps with 70.8gr of retumbo. Haven't seen pressure yet. The 162 shot so good in that gun that I don't I will change to the 175 Quite yet. They shot great though.
