156gr Berger EOL Elite Hunter Reviews

I've killed 2 antelope and 2 deer this year, great performance in all occasions. Going 2980 from my 6.5x284, and 3140 from my 6.5 max. Most recent kill was a big bodied mule deer buck, quartered away head down thrashing some bushes at 550y. I caught him just front edge of shoulder mostly neck. Have watched a lot of deer go down in my day, this guy dropped like he was hit by lightning.

Which bullet specifically are you taking about here?

And would you say that these would be enough for elk?
Berger 135 classic hunter or 140 elite hunter. Yes I personally wouldn't hesitate to use them on elk at 500 and under. Berger bullets are designed for violent expansion which comes from velocity not bullet weight.

Velocity plays a role in bullet expansion but you don't understand terminal ballistics if you don't believe bullet weight plays a very large role. It plays an even larger role with frangible bullets. The more shrapnel disintegrating inside the animal the quicker the death. That becomes even more important with larger animals.

The bullet weight debate is never ending and believe what you like. My options are based on real experiences.

I watched a young lady punch a large cow a couple days ago that was on alert at just under 400 yards with a 130 Berger from her 6.5x284 and she wobbled 35 yards and tipped over dead, both lungs were thoroughly violated and we found the bullet just in the meat on the of side shoulder, ya, they kill elk as long as you stick it in the right place.

Start on page 15. I have used them for around 20 animals so far, out to 940 yards, pronghorn mule deer and elk. They exit a little less than the 140 Bergers, but they kill fantastic.

If you can get them 2750 or so out of a creed, they should work good. If your temps where you hunt don't get too high, I would try Reloder 26. If you want more stability, try VV-N565. If neither of those are an option, Reloder 16, stable, similar to H4350 but a little more velocity. If you can't get rl16, H4350 or H4831sc. If you can't get any of those, you will have to wait a few months after Trump wins the election before anything becomes available.....ha ha
