We have an extensive thread on the 156 on LRO. I shot my dall sheep last year with one at 500 yards and was very impressed. I just lent a buddy my creedmoor and he shot his antelope with 156s at 150ish yards and performance was great.
That depends on who you ask. What minimum impact velocity is needed for the 156?
Bergers are JUNK!! just read that 13 page thread on the 215.
I couldn't resist.
That is funny. It may actually be the expectation of some.No kidding!!! They don't kill anything you miss with them !!
Berger 135 classic hunter or 140 elite hunter. Yes I personally wouldn't hesitate to use them on elk at 500 and under. Berger bullets are designed for violent expansion which comes from velocity not bullet weight.Which bullet specifically are you taking about here?
And would you say that these would be enough for elk?
Velocity plays a role in bullet expansion but you don't understand terminal ballistics if you don't believe bullet weight plays a very large role. It plays an even larger role with frangible bullets. The more shrapnel disintegrating inside the animal the quicker the death. That becomes even more important with larger animals.Berger 135 classic hunter or 140 elite hunter. The bullet weight debate is never ending and believe what you like. My options are based on real experiences.Velocity plays a role in bullet expansion but you don't understand terminal ballistics if you don't believe bullet weight plays a very large role. I watched a young lady punch a large cow a couple days ago that was on alert at just under 400 yards with a 130 Berger from her 6.5x284 and she wobbled 35 yards and tipped over dead, both lungs were thoroughly violated and we found the bullet just in the meat on the of side shoulder, ya, they kill elk as long as you stick it in the right place. And would you say that these would be enough for elk?
