140gr Berger Elite Hunter issue. Anyone experience this?

I started using 168 gr. Berger VLD's in my 7mm WSM because of the accuracy, high B.C. and price. Back then, they were available, and very reasonable. I load to a relatively low velocity of 2850. That high B.C. translates to more energy at range. I shot a javelina at 200 yards, and was worried there wouldn't be anything left. It worked just fine, through the ribs and no lost meat. If you want a pass through, just use a bullet with a higher sectional density. I've shot two bull elk at 340 yards, and neither went more than 20 feet. Deer, aoudad, antelope, javelina, elk, all die within a few feet. Hard to complain.

I used Barnes bullets for years with great success, but they weren't as accurate as the Bergers and more expensive.

If you make 100% perfect shots you can kill bears with blowguns. There's literally videos of a guy doing it. If a blowgun dart performance is all you expect of a Berger bullet, you're the perfect customer.
Maybe you should work on your shooting skills.
OMG! @Beluebow, LOL, I agree.

"If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck."

I think that it is prudent to have ELK bullets, then in another catagory for DEER bullets....just my way of thinking as I have got older and more experienced.
Because most of the areas I hunt has antelope, elk, bear, and elk, I always take a rifle setup for the largest game and furthest I am willing and able to humanly harvest.

In the mid-1990s, when I retrained to a new job, I had difficulties understanding what my assigned trainers was trying to convey to me. So, I started writing processes ala for "Idiots" or "dummies" (@Deputy819), then my Flight Chief made me the training program manager - go figure.😂

I know that there are lots of folks here that do not believe (ignore or confused) in KE and hydrostatic shock, or Berger's bullet information provided by @Outdrmn. I wish I can explain it ala the for "Idiots" or "Dummies" way, but thank God for Nathan Foster' prolific writing and real-world experiences. I think he captured it very well on the article below, esp. on how all the factors are interrelated.

Don't forget part 2 of the article - shot placement.

Excellent article, thanks for sharing.

As long as you don't blow up a bullet on a bone before it gets to the vitals

If you can show me actual evidence of a Berger "blowing up on bone" and not penetrating to the vitals, I will send you a box of 30 caliber Partitions. And I mean actual evidence (necropsy pics, trail cam pics, etc.), not some anecdote or a forum post.
