I know that there are lots of folks here that do not believe (ignore or confused) in KE and hydrostatic shock, or Berger's bullet information provided by
@Outdrmn. I wish I can explain it ala the for "Idiots" or "Dummies" way, but thank God for Nathan Foster' prolific writing and real-world experiences. I think he captured it very well on the article below, esp. on how all the factors are interrelated.
