Which cartridge for a Remy 700 long mag bolt face

.338 Edge...big thunder
I had one
Now I can duplicate the Edge ballistics in a 30 inch barreled 14 lbs rig with a 26 inch barrel in the 338 RBH and 12 lbs
And mine is 24 inches pushing 275 CEB MTH's at 2939fps with great accuracy

The 7STW will work in the 700 RUM action. You straighten the feed lips on a Wyatt CFE-9 box and use a forged Remington ultramag follower. This works with the RUM action's feed lips. I have done three. They work fine and don't rattle with cartridges up to 3.9 oal.
I've got the 7mm area covered.
See above posts
That cfe 9 mag requires opening the ejection port which weakens the action
Not my jam

I already had a 338 Edge, so I converted my 300 RUM to a 7mm Long Range Magnum (bigger brother to the PRC). I like it way more as a 7.

Now I want one. Shoot.i have 3 rifles I'm playing with now. I'll keep that in my memory bank
Well Travis stopped making these due to the amount of knowledge needed to reload, shoot and be consistent it. Plus a new barrel every 400-800 rounds is a big deal breaker for business
He still rebarrels my 2 rigs when needed. Thankfully!
5-6 reamer revision's from my original design to get it right over 12 years. Lots of burned up barrels and learning involved.
Also remember that good brass wasn't available yet at the time so I learned how to use 423 Dakota brass made by lapua to get us to the point of really testing the limit for the case design

Yes I derailed the thread but I started it and I like the input and I get to gloat a bit😁😁

Since my 300 weatherby mag has a barrel problem I am considering turning it into a 300PRC or 300 Norma Mag.
Acording to the Hornady manual I can visit the 3200 fps range (180 gr accubond) if I want to use the rest of my Re26.
The 300 Norma Mag can get to 2950 fps range with a 180 gr bullet if I want to.
Still on the fence but following this thread.

The Norma will require a lager .585 bolt face
H1000 and a 180 accubond will get you 3175 in a 24 inch barrel with a 300WM. Easy

Let's go back a few years, how about and how many here are still shooting two of my favorite magnum conversations, the .30-338 Win Mag and .308 Norma Magnum? They worked great back in the day, no reason they wouldn't today as a conversion for a Rem 700 LA. 🤔 Cheer's
