Does it soften the recoil or makes it more controllable. What brake you have
Its just more controllable, doesn't jump as much. The brake is from KS Arms up here in Canada, same company built the barrel also. I've got 5 different barrels from them and they all shoot well. I am actually planning to use their KSLR action for this same chambering when I build a new rifle.

The biggest change is downforce into the rear bag, that's how it basically removes jump from the equation. It doesn't seem like much, but lifting the rear weight of a 16.5# rifle at 36" instead of 18" means the same lift force (recoil above centerline) is now fighting twice the weight. That's not the exact distances obviously, but illuminates what's happening. You're changing pivot (bipod) and then the majority of the extra weight between the old and new pivot changes into something the recoil has to lift instead of something it only shoves.
Try holding a rifle at the grip with one hand, above your hip. Then try to extend that rifle out to full arm extension. Your shoulder is going to feel every single ounce, multiplied by the leverage of the fore end weight against the grip. Repeat but hold the rifle at the end of the stock fore end. That's the same that's translating to the rear bag.

Well, I've been brought here from the same 375 rum thread. Sorry to revive a somewhat dead thread.
I've got a 300 rum I was going to rebarrel to a 338 edge, but I recently was curious about going 37 caliber, and this just might be the ticket.
I'm either going to be using the 390 a tips or a cutting edge solid, probably the 377 or 400. If I could send one of those darn close to 2900, maybe even tickle 3000, I'm sold. I was originally thinking a 30"barrel, but 32 or 34 might be nice
I see the reamer print above, where did you get your dies from? They're going to be custom if course, do you send the die manufacturer the reamer print?

I got Whidden to custom make dies, that's a couple months wait. I just sent them the reamer print and everything went well.
ADG Brass, I'm not sure what to expect for life span yet, I've only got a couple firings on it so far.
I am building a whole new rifle in this cartridge as a dedicated ELR rifle. should be done soon. What action are you planning to use? I have the Barrel that was on the Rem 700 action I'd be willing to part with. it only has maybe 150 rounds through it
I've got some 375 & 400gr Lasers I am going to try when the new rifle is done. I've been happy with the A-tips tho so what ever shoots best.

It's a Remington 700 factory chambered for 300 rum. I might be interested in the barrel, although I'll have to take it up with the boss. I was planning for this to be a year or so out, so I have time to cut my teeth with elr on my factory barrel and not burn up good barrel learning.

I'm coming down to Montana hopefully in the next few weeks so I could pop it in the mail while I'm down there.
I start with 375 RUM Brass, I think 300 RUM Brass would get very thin at the neck when you neck it up.

I don't either, this will be my first rifle build, but it's exactly what I'm after. Not having to buy a reamer to get used once and find a Smith I can trust to chamber it right is a headache I can do without

I think I'd have to get $350 from it, otherwise I'll keep it.
