Ackley Improve this (280AI) and it is an ideal rig, IMO

The improving process improves the stability of the brass in every case. You also arrest some of the rearward movement of the rifle system with less bolt thrust at the same pressure. This allows you to gain speed and explore the next level of performance when you again reach the same pressure of the parent case. If you have a good barrel and decided you wanted to improve the case. If the work is done by a competent smith you will not lose what you had and most likely will see 100-200fps at the top end. The other end of it is you usually see slightly wider harmonic nodes due to the less bolt thrust and better headspace and chamber finish

Yep, don't know what happened with purpledragon's boy's rig, but AI improves brass life.

Six "entry level" .308's for beginners

His keeps splitting the necks for some reason....He'll get the fire form shot,and the next shot splits the neck. I'm no expert and can't give him any advise as to what his problem is, or where....

Oh, he is using new neck sized 25-06 brass I think it's R-P brass....

Tell him to run book starting loads that have been reduced by 5% to 10%, for fire-forming. He does not need to run high-pressure loads for fire-forming brass. That weakens the necks and shoulders, and sometimes causes them to split while fire-forming. This could be his issue.

Lots of bad advice out there for fire-forming for wildcats and AI cartridges, and I've heard that BS line of "run hot loads while fire-forming" quite a bit. It causes LOTS of problems.

Thank you for the advice...But even the cases he fire forms with the Cream Of Wheat do the same thing.....

6.5 CM BROWNING X-BOLT PRO SIGHT-IN RESULTS:

Today I sighted in my new 6.5 CM X-Bolt Pro and the last 3 on X-ring zeroing shots were a true 1/2 MOA. This was shooting off my range bag B/C I forgot my **** cast iron front rest. (140 gr Hornady ELD-M ammo, SWFA SS 3 - 15 x 42, FFP, mil/mil scope)

THEN I went to our club's steel range and shot (again, off my range bag) to 547 yards (sillhouette & gongs) hitting every shot but one from 212 yard chickens to 370 yard pigs to the 547 yard sheep and gongs. That rifle and SWFA SS 3 - 15 x 42 scope combo is very accurate. Happy shooter here!
