30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

I just had a Bartlein #3, chambered for a long-throated 30 Nosler, put on my Remington 700. My action had Ultra Mag feed rails and it was my understanding that the 30 Nosler worked better with those than the 300 PRC. Now, I just need to find some 230 gr Bergers.

BTW, I am planning on using the 230s over the 215s because an under 300 yard shot is more likely for me than an over 700 yard shot. So, I would like a bullet that is slightly less explosive.

I ended up doing a 30 Nosler throated for the 215s. I have everything but the action. It was supposed to be done next month but Defiance called and told me September now! I was not very happy, I may buy a used one or overpriced one as I don't want to wait. I look forward to your results with yours my man!

Bergara will sell you their premier barreled action in 300 PRC in less time than September. Thats quite a date move for ya to swallow for sure.

I actually have a 300 PRC in an Xbolt coming next month. I didn't order it, my dad won it and doesn't want it so I figured I will give it a whirl

I'm so far impressed with the 300 prc's. Fierce and bergara in the stable.
Bergara. Took the info off the box of 212eldx, zeroed at 200, then shot the tall target at 800…… all hits were inside the 4" diamond.

Fierce. Only shot it at 200, but it printed perfect 1/2" horizontal groups with the eldm's.

At 40-50$ a box for that ammo, makes the prc a "go to" gun.

Seems like 6 of one or half dozen of the other. Looking to build a 300 PRC(OR Improved version) soon. Slowly getting parts together. Looks like a great (long low drag) bullet cartridge design. No belted case. Equal or an edge to the 300WM and just under the 30 Nosler. The added advantage to me would be improving the 300PRC giving it an equal if not edge on the 30 Nosler. What's not to like about the 300PRC ?

Should run about 150-200fps better than the WM with all bullet weights from what I can find, maybe even a bit better.

I assume you mean the 300PRC AW2 when you mention improved.

My 30 Nosler chambered with AW reamer for 215s. Stock was purchased here, bedded by Mark Pharr, Tumbleweeds Custom Rifles in Round Rock, TX. Mark cut the LoP to 13 inches. Barrel is a 26 inch 10T Bartlein CF, finished at the muzzle with a FatB 3/4x24. Bolt was opened, bushed and Sako extractor installed by Pete Pieper, Precision Barrel Work in Hempstead, TX.
