30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

Sometimes what is perceived as recoil is actually bad barrel harmonics with a load that isn't tuned. Generally when you get them in a node, vibration at the shooter is minimized. This is much more pronounced in light, sporter barrels. Not saying that's what you've experienced, just a thought
I totally agree with you. This could have been part of the issue with the recoil that I noticed. I posted a thread on here a while back discussing how most of the rifles that I hand loaded for seemed to settle down alot ( as far as recoil) after tuning them into a node. I got alot of goofy comments back and decided to leave the topic alone because it was evident that alot of the folks commenting had not noticed or experienced what I was talking about.

How's far are you planning on taking an animal. 600 yards is as far as I consider it to be hunting person. I can shoot the Weatherby I have 1.5 miles so far but not gonna hunt like that.

Witch one and why?
I have a 28 Nosler and after shooting it for the last 6 years I know longer shoot any 30 Cal's. I shoot with a couple guys that have the 300 prc and pass 600 yards the 28 seems to have much tighter groups. That being said if you want to shoot a lot of targets get the 6.5 PRC as well, that's what I did so I don't shoot my 2nd barrel out quite so fast. I got 850 rounds with a factory Browning Xbolt Hells Canyon. I put a Krieger barrel on and hopping to 1200 out of it, treating it a bit better.

old thread but I'm waiting for my smith to finish chambering my 3b bartlein in 300 prc. So that's what I decided on. Wasn't much of a debate internally for me.

I just had a Bartlein #3, chambered for a long-throated 30 Nosler, put on my Remington 700. My action had Ultra Mag feed rails and it was my understanding that the 30 Nosler worked better with those than the 300 PRC. Now, I just need to find some 230 gr Bergers.

BTW, I am planning on using the 230s over the 215s because an under 300 yard shot is more likely for me than an over 700 yard shot. So, I would like a bullet that is slightly less explosive.
