30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

I agree. My next build is another 300WM, Defiance, Bartlein CF, McM Game Warden, A191 reamer, as I have enough FGGM 190 to burn up a barrel.

Here is the current one. Action trued by Mike Bryant, I chambered it with a SAAMI, and as much as I hate doing furniture work, I bedded it. A good friend, Mike B, painted the barrel.

What makes you want to do a 300 win mag after doing that sweet 30 Nosler? I am honestly curious not poking at you. My 30 Nosler is my one and only 30 caliber, but feel like it's the perfect 30 atleast for my needs. Wish it was a 30-28 Nosler but that ship has sailed.

Got you, I missed that in my first reading of your post.

Honest numbers even reloading the two is probably only 50-75 fps difference max. Too me the 300 PRC if leaving as a standard cartridge is so close to the 300WM that performance alone doesn't give it the edge. Design does.

I have a 300WM and in the process of building a 300PRC. I don't have any personal performance data on the 300PRC but have seen enough on this forum to know it's not much better than the 300WM when compared apples to apples or basically reloaded ammo using max case capacity of each cartridge.

The only real, measurable differnce is the PRC allowing for much heavier bullets without seating down into the powder column without having to single load because of magazine limits.

If you don't intend to go much heavier than 200gr it's not that big of a deal.

The other factor is just the likelihood that 300wm brass is going to just get harder and harder to find and more expensive when you do.

Powder capacity isn't hardly different. I load the 230 in my 300WM perfectly for max case capacity. They are around 3.75" OAL. Much she same as the 300PRC. The chamber is throated for 225/230s. EZPZ on loading. Excellent performance 2900-2925 with 225/230s. Don't like the belted cases and don't like the short necks.

You keep saying this. I wholeheartedly disagree. There are millions of rifles throughout the world that shoot a belted cartridge. They certainly aren't going anywhere in our lifetime.

But that's the beauty of a DBM or Wyatt's setup. You can seat out to 3.750" in the CIP length BM and 4.00" with a Wyatt's internal box and bolt stop modification.

The ONLY advantage I see the Creedmoor/PRC cartridges have is if you are stuck shooting a factory rifle and factory ammo. Otherwise plenty of other cartridges are just as good, even with a belt.

I didn't do that and went with a SAAMI reamer. I'm running my last few tests this week to see if I will be able to get the numbers I want. If not it's going back to Alamo to get recut with a custom reamer.

It just needs freebore cut into it is all it needs
